The scoring in this league is much different than I'm used to. Seems to tip the scales to TDs much more than yardage.
In this league , there's 9 bench spots because the first 4 transactions are free and everything after that is $5 each.
Passing TDs are 4 pts -- I'm used to 6 50 yrds passing = 1 pt -- I'm used to 25 yrds 20 yrds rushing/recieving = 1 pt -- I'm used to 10 yrds 2 bonus points for receiving 100+ yrds 0.25 points PPR -- I've never played a PPR league but 0.25 doesn't seem to be all that significant The rest of the scoring is pretty standard
Somehow Ray Rice was available at the 6th pick so I promptly took him. Also, after the draft I realized I didn't pick up a 2nd T/E so there goes a waste of an add/drop >.<
Here's my draft results.
Any areas you think need improving? Any trades you'd be aiming for?
Any thoughts are much appreciated! Link your team and I'll gladly provide an evaluation in return.
THANKS!
1. (6) Ray Rice - Steal!!! How did he fall here? 2. (19) Larry Fitzgerald -Watch for a fallout with him since Warner is gone, like everyone knows, but he still does serviceable No. 1 WR numbers. 3. (30) Matt Schaub -Securing the QB spot early I like, just don't forget about Schaub and his injury history 4. (43) Anquan Boldin -Nice WR no.2 should be a nice fit with flacco 5. (54) Ronnie Brown -You cant start him right away proabbly, since hes coming off Lisfranc surgery but should be fine in a few weeks 6. (67) Terrell Owens -Eh...who knows how much he has left in the tank...be prepared for a no show like last year ( I took him 4th rd last year) 7. (78) Minnesota -Reaching for an elite D, probably should still be padding your RB/WR 8. (91) Visanthe Shiancoe -Lives and dies every week off the touchdown pass, but with no Sidney Rice he should see more targets, nice pick 9. (102) Felix Jones -Nice value pick here if DAL gives him the carries and if he stills healthy hes a steal 10. (115) Davone Bess -I think his value is very limited. Low ceiling. With Marshall, Camarillo, and Hartline all hanging around he will struggle to be a fantasy factor 11. (126) Vince Young -His numbers aren't staggering but, hey, hes your backup. No complaint pick 12. (139) New Orleans -Backup defense? 13. (150) Ryan Longwell -Kicker? This early? Really? 14. (163) Steve Slaton -Nice pick HUGE upside sleeper 15. (174) Devery Henderson -Limited upside 16. (187) Victor Cruz -sexy pick, sexy name, sexy player.. need I say more? 17. (198) Golden Tate -Rookie WR tend not to fair well but worth the 198th pick, sure 18. (211) Shayne Graham -2nd kicker?
1. (6) Ray Rice - Steal!!! How did he fall here? Brees went 4th and Rivers went 5th. 5 spot team's name is Mighty Bolts so that explains it
2. (19) Larry Fitzgerald -Watch for a fallout with him since Warner is gone, like everyone knows, but he still does serviceable No. 1 WR numbers. I agree. I'm heavily regretting not taking Jennings instead
5. (54) Ronnie Brown -You cant start him right away proabbly, since hes coming off Lisfranc surgery but should be fine in a few weeks The only other starting RBs left at this point were Marion Barber and Michael Bush. I think he'll be ready to start. I'm just concerned about whether or not he gets injured again and either way he'll be splitting a lot of carries with Williams. Plus I'm thinking with Marshall in the lineup, Miami will be throwing more often although trading Camarillo today to Minn may prove their intentions to be otherwise
6. (67) Terrell Owens -Eh...who knows how much he has left in the tank...be prepared for a no show like last year ( I took him 4th rd last year) I agree but he was in Buffallo last year and he should get planty of man to man coverage in a team that should be an offensive powerhouse this year. IMO he's hot for a WR3
7. (78) Minnesota -Reaching for an elite D, probably should still be padding your RB/WR I agree. There was a big run on DEFs in the 6th round for some reason and while I know DEF isn't those most important position in Fantasy, I think a lot of people undervalue the contribution a solid DEF can make in your weekly score
10. (115) Davone Bess -I think his value is very limited. Low ceiling. With Marshall, Camarillo, and Hartline all hanging around he will struggle to be a fantasy factor Camarillo was traded today and DEFs will be double teaming Marshall. Bess proved he can be a deep threat and I think Henne will be looking his way. Low odds but he proved himself at the end of last season so I figured it was worth a shot just in case. I made the mistake of thinking Bess would be gone by the time it got back to me but Mike Williams would still be there. I was wrong. Williams got picked up and I lost out here
12. (139) New Orleans -Backup defense? Simply to fill the bye week although I like to have another decent DEF so I can play matchups during the regular season. First 4 transactions are free and after that they're $5 each
13. (150) Ryan Longwell -Kicker? This early? Really? huge run on Kickers took my by surprise here. Wanted to have someone I could at least count on for 8-10 points a week
16. (187) Victor Cruz -sexy pick, sexy name, sexy player.. need I say more? I'm actually dropping him for Legadu Naanee assuming I clear waivers
18. (211) Shayne Graham -2nd kicker?[/quote] simply to fill the bye week. there really wasnt anyone left on the board I saw as being anyone that would see the light of day on my starting roster at all this season sp rather than waste a transaction later in the season to cover the bye, I took him here. Forgot to grab a 2nd TE though
Thank you for the feedback! Some of it was reassuring and some of it gave me some things to consider... both for this team and for the two other leagues I'll be drafting in this weekend.
I like the Rice, Boldin and Felix Jones picks. Those guys will be solid and you drafted them in spots that represented good value. Some of your others are guys that I tried to stay away from; Fitz, Brown, TO. Fitz I worry about Leinart throwing him the ball, I mean he looked awful the other night. He's not confident doesn't seem to have a ton of zip ont he ball and doesn't make decisions quickly enough. Brown is always an injury concern but not just little injuries, season enders, therefore I've never drafted him and never will. TO, who knows.
