Rodgers/McCoy for Grant/Ryan/Bowe WHIR

Postby LMack » Tue Aug 24, 2010 10:23 am

Hey all. I'm in a 14 team non PPR league and have this trade on the table.
I give Ryan Grant, Matt Ryan, Dwayne Bowe
I get Aaron Rodgers, Lesean McCoy

What do you think? Grant is my RB2 behind Chris Johnson and Matt Ryan is my starting QB. Trading Bowe would mean losing my second WR, but I have solid bench depth with Malcolm Floyd, Devin Hester and Jacoby Jones. One of these players could rise to fill Bowe's slot, or I can just play matchups week to week. Thanks for the help, leave a link. The rest of my roster is below.

QB: Matt Ryan
RB: Chris Johnson
RB: Ryan Grant
Flex: Jahvid Best
WR: Greg Jennings
WR: Dwayne Bowe
TE: John Carlson
D/ST: Patriots
K: Jay Feely
Bench: Michael Bush, Montario Hardesty, Malcolm Floyd, Devin Hester, Jacoby Jones, Alex Smith

I don't feel too good about that trade man. I'm not a big fan matt ryan but losing your number 2 RB and WR for rodgers and mcCoy is brutal. McCoy would become your RB2 and thats a pretty good drop from Grant, especially in a non PPR league. I do think McCoy will have a good season I just don't know if its going to be that good. I would definitely not feel comfortable having hardesty as my RB3, i'm still not sold on him.

Well Best would technically be my RB3. I guess the question becomes: Is the upgrade of Rodgers over Ryan greater than the downgrade from Grant to McCoy and Bowe to Floyd

I'm going to say yes the margin is big enough. I just ran the numbers and they surprised me. Take the trade.

I couldn't believe Grant and McCoy's expectation this year is only a 7 point difference. Bowe and Floyd was much greater but rodgers and ryan was huge, the trade should work out great

According to what? Someone else's predictions shouldn't determine your trades. I do like this trade, though. Getting rid of Bowe isn't all that great, and the downgrade from Grant will likely be more than '7 points', but I think the upgrade to Rodgers is gigantic. I don't see Ryan improving much, and LeSean could breakout. I also like Floyd a lot and is not a bad replacement at all for Bowe.

Note: This is a pretty damn good team for a 14 teamer.

I take that trade in a heartbeat...Rodgers' value is WAY more than Ryan's...You're then losing Grant and taking in McCoy, which IMO isn't bad at all. I think McCoy will have a good year with Westbrook gone, i've seen some rankings have him in the Top 10 RB's. Lastly, losing Bowe won't hurt you very much, I've never been much of a fan.

Thanks everyone for your help.
The other owner seems to be leaning towards taking Floyd over Bowe. That doesn't hurt the trade too much, if at all, no?

Ya but its something to look at it obviously. You literally said exactly what I did so apparently my knowledge and research can.
