Rodgers vs Manning

Postby bbalevic23 » Tue Aug 24, 2010 9:23 pm

Right now I have Peyton Manning, but a guy is offering me Rodgers straight up for him. I think both have their advantages and disadvantages, but I dont know who to go with. I will list my league settings and thoughts below. who would you choose for this season?

yahoo redraft league. all tds are 6 points. 25 yards per point passing and 10 yards per point rushing.

Rodgers

Advantages- higher upside than manning. O-line looks good so could be even better. Throws a lot.
Disadvantages- Gets sacked more than manning. Plays in cold and bad weather games during championship week.

Manning

Advantages- As consistent as they come. Has more receivers and more options now.
Disadvantages- Rests during week 16. Limited upside compared to Rodgers. Supposedly handing the ball off more this season.

This is a lose-lose deal. It's risky. Two top guys. While I like Rodgers better (especially with the extra rushing points and TDs he'll get over Manning) there's no advantage for you either way really.

If the other guy brought it up, make him throw something else in, else why bother.

Manning is as safe as it gets. Rodgers might be a little better fantasy wise though.

Ya you need to get something else out of it. 1 for 1 trades are usually offered because the guy is trying to screw you over. In this case either one is good so I don't see the point of even trading unless you get someone else out of it.

I peronally think Rodgers is the #1 QB in all formats, so I would pull the trigger.

Normally I'd say it's a toss-up... but Rodgers gets the rushing TD's and it helps his value tremendously. 25% of the Packers rushing TD's last year were from Rogers himself.
Make the trade.

Agreed. Last year in my league (which looks to have the same scoring as yours), he outscored every QB by nearly 50 points . I only expect him to improve. I'd go with Rodgers, easy. I don't see why any of you would consider him risky seeing as he's never really had injury problems. Riskier than Peyton? Maybe, but Risky? No.
