Hey guys, I've drafted my big money league team for this upcoming fantasy season and was looking for some outlook and feedback on it.
14 teamer, no PPR, standard scoring 4 pts per passing TD, 6 pts per rec/rush TD, 10 yds per pt rec/rush and 25 yds per pt passing.
I had 13th pick, took Cedric Benson, more on him later
QB Joe flacco - headed for a breakout IMO 4,000+ and 25+ TD WR Larry Fitzgerald WR Dwayne Bowe - career season I envision WR TJ Houshmandzadeh - 80 rec for 900+ yards with 3 broken ribs, groin tear, and no QB bound to bounceback if he and Hass are healthy RB Cedric Benson - why so underrated? contract year, passing game should help his TDs and YPC, 1400 yards in 13 and half games last year, should top 1500+ total yards and score around 10 TDs, low-end RB1? RB Jahvid Best - will be Mr. everything in the Detroit backfield, 6.1 YPC so far this preseason thinking 1200+ rushing 400+ receiving and close to 10 TD TE Antonio Gates - best in the business WR/RB Darren McFadden - returned from hamstring to run with first team and look great first practice back
bench Mike Williams of TB - darkhorse ROY candidate Leon Washington - starting next game Marshawn Lynch - may start opener if Fred Jackson isn't ready Mike Thomas- starting WR for Jags Harry Douglas - starting WR for Falcons Matt Hasselbeck - decent backup for Flacco's bye
K Robbie Gould
DEF Dallas - should make plays and rack up sacks
What do you guys think of this team? Deep league hard to put together a good roster, agree or disagree with some of my player views and why? what should I look to improve? ready for the season or not?
And as always please leave a link as I'm more than happy to return your help!
Looking at your running back corps roster I would have guessed you would have better receivers on your roster but a money draft changes things. Fitzy is great if Lienhart comes through. With that said I would look to upgrade at WR. somehow. Your RBs are surviceable but not studly enough to warrant the drop in the WR position. Just my opinion.
I think your team looks pretty solid, and the lack of studs can be attributed to be being a 14 team league. Expecting 1500 and 1600 yards from Benson and Best respectively might be asking for a lot. With TO in town, and the possible emergence of Shipley as a slot WR could sway Cin to pass the ball more. Gresham is also in town and Palmer is another year removed from surgeries. Best has also looked great, but I think your expectations should be tempered a bit due to Smith likely being the goal-line back and questions about Best's durability. As the future of the backfield, I don't envision Det giving him an extremely heavy workload right out of the gate. I like your bench WR, especially Williams, but I think that both Washington and Lynch don't offer much. Washington is a change of pace back on a team where the main guy (Forsett) is already a small-shifty type. Lynch is playing third fiddle to the explosive rookie and seemingly more steady FJax. I would look into picking up Huggins from TB to replace Washington. The guy once ran a 4.28 forty and has already secured the backup RB behind the often injured Cadillac.
I think those additions help Benson more than anything, because defenses will respect the pass way more, and Cinci will still pound Benson over 300 times so I think those passing options and improved passing game helps his YPC go up and helps his chances for TDs as the offense will be better as a whole.
last year he put up 1,360 yards and 6 TDs in 13 and half games, he had one playoff game in which he put up 21 carries for 169 yards and 1 TD with 3 receptions for 12 yards against the Jets.
So in total it was 1,540 yards and 7 TDs in 14 and half games without the added motivation of a contract year and without an improved passing game so that defenses won't key on him and he'll have more scoring chances. I can't see how given 16 games he can't surpass 1,500 yards total and get around 10 TDs. Had he not missed time last year he would have pushed 1,700 total yards and 10 TDs again without the added passing game or motivation of a contract year. He is better than guys like DeAngelo Williams, Shonn Greene, etc who sometimes go over him in drafts. He is a RB1 for sure IMO in non-PPR leagues. aslong as someone has Scott they are fine, and I do not sure if I listed him or not in original post.
14 team league are definitley a lot harder and I dont rate to many of them. But I love Flacco, with the additon of bolden, stallworth, and then ray rice being a great pass catching RB. Dwayne bowe should bounce back, and Fitzy is a beast I just hope leinert doesnt kill his value. I also drafted Cedric Benson and wasnt too thrilled about it but I hope your right on good you think he can be this year. Best should be good with his ability to catch passes and make big plays. I like the guys on your bench but from what ive been hearing mcfadden is getting outplayed by bush.
Heres mine take a loook we have a lot of the same players.
This is a really deep league, so you always hve to gamble on some risky picks. I think you have some risky players (housh/bowe) but think you put together a pretty solid team. You're expecting a lot from Benson/Best, but i think they'll at provide high RB2 stats at the very least. Fitz is a guy that i've been avoiding. Sure, he's a stud and stud's usuallly find a way to get their's, but i don't trust his weak armed qb.
Still, good team. Low risk, high reward guys

do you think Fitz would do better with DA? DA going to start next preseason game and if he does well, Leinart is on the outs.
Your predictions for your team seem....bold to say it nicely ....inaccurate is the not nice way...
Lots of questions at WR...Fitz has no QB and will see the constant double-team and the occasional triple team since no more Boldin...Bowe had a crappy year last year and Housh didn't do much better....Benson isn't underrated if taken at 13th overall he had half a good season and then another half injuries and just blah...Best isn't durable enough to be Mr. Everything...look at his college career with his horrendous injury and using preseason stats has absolutely no value at all since half the teams are featuring a 3rd-tier defense...sorry to be the dampener for this parade but ya gotta be realistic...sure the team could do well but there is just the same chance it collapses.

umm half a season of injuries and just blah? he absolutely shredded the Jets for 21 carries 169 yards 1 TD in the playoffs and killed the Chiefs for 140 on 29 carries week 16, sat out week 17 for rest. not following there.
