FoxSports.com's Adam Caplan reports the Rams fear Donnie Avery's season is over after he was carted off the field Thursday night with a serious right knee injury.

The exact nature of the injury isn't known, but it had the look of ACL damage as his knee bent the wrong way. Avery had been on the radar as a high-upside WR5 after bulking up to avoid minor nicks and scrapes this season. His absence will hurt the Rams' deep game, but at least now they have some wideout depth with Brandon Gibson and Mardy Gilyard.

i'm not sure if this increases Laurent Robinson's Value or not in deep leagues as a #3. he has never really done anything, though he supposedly has the build, etc. Being thrown the #1 corner every week not really a great thing though.

Robinson certainly has potential but is really injury prone and probably won't be near consistent enough to rely on for fantasy points.

Exactly why my Mardy Gilyard 'darkhorse' pick is looking better by the day. Actually really did love Benn and Gilyard as 2 WR that would be extremely overlooked and both, imo, had very good shots at topping the Williams, Thomas' and LaFell's of the draft.

With Avery going down, and not looking good, and with Robinson's troubled health record, it's looking more and more like:

A. Amendola should now slot into the WR2 position
B. With Amendola sliding to the WR2 slot that makes the slot position battle a battle no more, meaning Gilyard should be the starting slot guy. If all signs are still pointing the right way Gilyard has a legit shot at the WR2 slot also as reports were out saying that Gilyard looked to be beating Amendola out for that slot position.
