Ridiculous first draft for n00bie!!! Advice?!

Postby thepsychic » Fri Aug 27, 2010 1:31 am

This is my first time drafting and I mostly just used the top 200 list on CBS for my rankings. Can you guys let me know how I did? Give advice on what I need (aside from picking up a DST before week1)? This is a standard 12-team yahoo league except passing TDs are 6pts and Int are -2pts, no PPR. QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR/TE, TE, K, DST, Bn, Bn, Bn, Bn, Bn, Bn.

1. (9) Aaron Rodgers
2. (16) Randy Moss
3. (33) DeSean Jackson
4. (40) Steve Smith
5. (57) Joseph Addai
6. (64) Knowshon Moreno
7. (81) Reggie Bush
8. (88) Visanthe Shiancoe
9. (105) Santonio Holmes
10. (112) Brandon Jacobs
11. (129) Jabar Gaffney
12. (136) Nate Kaeding
13. (153) John Carlson
14. (160) Chad Henne
15. (177) Larry Johnson

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Your WRs are pretty strong but RBs are the key. I don't see your team doing to well in the long run with that RB roster. K. Moreno may give you a little but i dont see much happening with Reggie Bush and Brandon Jacobs, and Addai will be sharing with Donald Brown. I'd pick Lesean Mccoy over K. Moreno, myself. Last year he was playing back up to Brian Westbrook, and in games where Westbrook didn't play, McCoy produced well. So expect him to be the No. 1 back for the eagles.

I really like this team....stacked at QB and WR your only concern is RB.
Addai, Moreno, Bush, Jacobs, and Larry Johnson...Moreno was a STEAL in the 6th round and is a GREAT RB2 and a possible RB1...Addai is Mr.Consistent...then you have OK depth there but the rest of your team is stacked! You have a chance to make a good run at the title, just stay healthy!

Anyone else have advice for me? Any potential moves to get a decent RB1? Opinions on Moreno & Addai as my starting 2? Thanks!

For drafting 9th in a 12 man league you have a great team. Any league that rewards 6 points for passing TD's need to grab a solid QB...and you have the best IMO. Rodgers is going to keep you very competative. You start only 2 WR's with a possibility of a flex...your'e fine at WR. Which Steve Smith do you have? CAR or NY? I'm really high on Gaffney this year...especially since he looks to be the go to guy in Den. You're foundation of Rodgers, Moss and Jackson should be fairly solid. You start 2 RB's and here is were you're going to get a little dicey. Addai should be fine as a starter and is typically the Rodney Dangerfield of the RB world. If he stays healthy your golden. Moreno's a bit of a risk with his injury...hammy injuries have a tendancy to linger. Once he's healthy he'll be servicable. Jacobs is a head case...ya root for the guy cause you know what he can do but once he got his money it's been all down hill since then. He'll be in a split for sure with Bradshaw. Bush is a high risk / reward type player especially in a non PPR. Who's on your wire right now for RB's?

Yeah that wire isn't all that appealing...I'd sit tight for now. One thing you do have going for ya is that your have some great WR's. You may be able to dangle say a Smith or even Jackson in a owners face for a RB. WR's this year are a premium..there isn't many good ones to go around..especially in a 12 man. I haven't checked up on Moreno lately but if he's till hurt you may want to take a look at trading a WR for a high upside RB or you can hang tight and have Moreno sitting on the bench and switch out Jacobs and Bush based on matchup until Moreno's ready.

oh p.s...welcome to the boards ;-D

Actually I had more time to think...drop LJ and pick up Little Leon. Way more upside.

I agree with almost everyone on your team. Looks very strong at WR and you have an elite QB ,which always helps, but it will be hard to win consistently with your RB's. Your QB and WR will have to hoist them up every single week. Moreno could be huge, but I don't see Addai being a RB1 and Larry Johnson doesn't seem to be much of a threat these days. I would start pondering over some trade proposals that may work for you and the person you initiate a trade with.
