So i'm a newbie. I started my picks up to benched players in a pretty standard method, but then once I hit my backups I went a little nuts. I need some advice.
My roster:
QB - Jay Cutler
WR - Larry Fitzgerald
WR - Steve Smith
RB - Frank Gore
RB - Shonn Greene
TE - Jermichael Finley
W/R - Knowshon Moreno
K - Mason Crosby
DEF - NYG
Now I am a bit uncomfortable with Cutler. I feel good about most of the other spots. I decided to take Ben Roethlisberger as a backup QB for later in the season. I did this because I saw most QB's gobbled up and one of our league's strongest grabbed Ben's replacement so I thought I could either leverage Ben for a great trade or use it against him later in the season. Due to still be uncomfortable with Cutler and there being another pretty solid QB remaining and me being from Atlanta I grabbed up Matt Ryan as well. I figured I could use Ryan/Cutler based on performance then leverage either and/or Ben in a trade later or play Ben to come on strong later in the season if he does well. I picked up Dexter McCluster as a backup W/R, and Devin Hester as a backup WR.
My bench is:
QB - Matt Ryan
QB - Ben Roethlisberger
W/R - Dexter McCluster
WR - Devin Hester
I noticed that everyone else in the league picked up 2 more WR/RB where I grabbed up 2 QB's for later trades/use. Was this a stupid thing to do? I just don't see any other RB/WR outside of my lineup that look worth giving up the Cutler/Ryan options and Ben later in the season. If Ryan or Cutler perform horribly I will drop them for a RB/WR that steps up and does well, but I just don't know. I am a newbie and it seems like what I did was bass ackwards.
