He's not playing in preseason games for some reason. His agent wouldn't comment saying the doctors said his injury wasn't "that serious." I do think he will be fine but I have a feeling Rashad Jennings is about to get a big FF boost.
Anyone have better info on this? Count me worried by the lack of details. I have the 3rd pick in my draft on Wednesday, and now I am very unclear who to take. It's a 4-way tie right now between MJD, Gore, Turner, and Rice.
I too have the third pick in my draft on Wednesday. I have been agonizing all week. I think that the third pick may be the most difficult this year.
I really think the debate comes down to MJD or Rice. Gore and Turner are solid options, however, I think they are just a notch below Rice and Mojo.
This injury speculation does not help MJD's case.
Yesterday, though, I finally came to a decision.
While I think MJD will have a fine season, his stats last year say to me that he may have reached his ceiling. Rice did what he did with limited touches and should see an increased workload this year.
If you look at McGahee's touches, alot of them were in garbage time in decided games after Rice had already gotten his.
Also, I think Rice has more potential to outshine last year's stats than MJD. I am trying to win the league, not do well. Rice is a bigger role of the dice, but that I've always been boom or bust in fantasy football and have some league championships to show for it as well as some less than desireable finishes, but at least I went with my gut and my gut tells me Rice.
This is coming from someone who did their college internship with the Jacksonville Jaguars, so while it is difficult to pass on MJD, this early injury stuff coupled with the fact that Rice is on a MUCH better team running behind arguably the best offensive line in footbal, makes me think Rice is the home run pick capable of being the number one fantasy back by year's end.
I've always been a gambler and this year will be no different.
- Rice has never been a great goal line option. - The 49ers schedule is VERY easy against the run. Ravens play in a tough division. - I don't get points for receptions. - I get bonus points for 100 yards rushing or receiving, but not the combo of the 2, so 80 rushing and 50 receiving is not as good as 100 yards rushing. - I can handcuff Dixon, who (from what I've heard) would be a quality starter should Gore get injured. - 49ers offensive line is much improved.
To me, Gore's upside is higher with the TDs and the handcuff option gives me nice insurance.
"According to the Florida Times-Union, the Jaguars might have to decide if they want to reduce Jones-Drew's workload to help save him some wear and tear.
Advice: Jones-Drew has been sidelined the last two weeks with an apparent knee injury.
(STATS, Inc.)"
If he's there at #5 overall in a PPR league, take him??
Maurice Jones-Drew (knee) was practicing with the Jaguars on Monday.
The level of Jones-Drew's participation is not yet known, but this confirms that he'll start against the Broncos on Sunday. While Jones-Drew's meniscus injury is one to monitor and could get worse, it's not an immediate threat to his workload. Confidently draft MJD in the top-5 and use him in your lineup this week. Just be sure to snag Rashad Jennings as a handcuff.
