I need major help, please. I have created a poll below and would love some help as I have never had the #1 overall draft pick and HAVE to do well this year:
League Rules: 6 points for any touchdown (QB thrown, rushing or recieving). 1 point for 25 yds passing, 1 pt for 10 yds rushing or receiving. PPR = .5
14 team league with regular serpentine draft (so I have 1, 28, 29 pick, etc)
My league is QB crazy - the top 8 QBs will be drafted by the end of the 2nd round. I am thinking about taking Aaron Rodgers with my first pick. If I do, I will end up with probably Jamaal Charles. If not, I take Chris Johnson and get maybe Flacco at best as my QB with the rest of the draft will be the same.
What do you think? Rodgers or CJ in the first pick?
CJ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2nd round RBs Rodgers>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2nd round QBs
Plus if you take CJ and everyone else goes after QBs right away you'll end up with a badass RB2.
Odds are you'll be able to take a decent QB like Flacco who should have his best year ever this year. Load yourself up with a backup like Rothlisberger or Palmer in later rounds.
Nobody seems to believe me here but Carson is going to have a ridiculous year. Last year he threw for 3094 yards and 21 TDs. They ran a lot more last year because they didn't have many stud WRs. Nevermind 85's and TO's off field antics. And don't forget that TO's crap season last year can be attributed to the fact that he was playing in Buffalo. When he played in Dallas he had Roy Williams. Meh. In Cinci he's going to have 85 to take best corners off of him.
So... 3094 yards last year and 21 TDs... add in TO and Antonio Bryant... yah... I see another 600-700 yards and 6-8 TDs coming from that. That would be a fantastic season. That WILL be a fantastic season.
I think you take CJ #1 without a doubt. Let the other dregs pick the QBs whenever they want. If 8 guys pick a QB, you keep picking RBs/WRs until you must pick your QB around the 9th round before everyone else picks their backup QB.
But why Flacco? I think it depends on your ranking of QB.
My rankings are: Rogers Brees P. Manning Schaub Brady Romo Rivers Kolb Cutler Favre Manning Ryan Flacco
Flacco is 14th. No rush if you really like him, but I want a QB at Cutler or above.

All of what you are saying makes sense. I figured Flacco, because I don't trust Cutler - does anyone actually think he is going to score THAT much better this year even in Martz's offense? With -2 for interceptions, he is a dead man walking in my eyes.
settle for flacco/mcnabb/palmer/ryan or whatever in 4th round (no need to take in 2nd or 3rd, the rush will be over)
have this in a 14-team league = do very well:
Flacco Austin CJ Benson
This.
Take CJ and jump for joy if 8 QBs are taken before you get your 2nd and 3rd picks. Don't pick a QB in the 2nd or 3rd, take best WR/RB available, as described above.
With your 4th and 5th picks, grab a QB if you are getting nervous. I like your thinking about Flacco > Cutler in a league that penalizes INTs heavily. But you might be able to grab a Kolb, Rivers, Manning, or Manning in the 4th.
Even if QBs are going fast and furious in round 2, stay cool. Remember, you only need one, and you'll find a good one in the 4th/5th. Heck, you might even be able to wait longer if the run on QBs you envision doesn't come about.
