I know what most people think about 6 team leagues but before you mock, take a look at the setup.
Starting Roster Positions - 3QB, 4RB, 6WR, 2TE, 2DST, 2K also have 11 bench spots. Total of 30 players. Scoring - Rush/Rec TDs worth 6, Pass TDs worth 4, 10 Rush/Rec yards/point, 20 pass yards/point
So, now that you know that my team won't be stacked and the free agent pool will be thin after the draft, I could use some help with a drafting strategy. I have the 1st pick in a snaking draft.
I wouldn't treat it all to differently than a standard 12 team league with regular roster settings. Take CJ2K at number 1, then go with the flow of the draft. Take the BPA more often than not. If QB's start moving quickly, make sure you get some decent ones before you're stuck with the 16th, 17th and 18th best QB's.
Thanks LMack. I was leaning that way too; I was just unsure if I should target particular positions more often. For example, in my normal 12 team league with a first position pick, I'd try to target RB, WR, WR, RB, QB, then TE or some backups. Really curious how this will go today.
I would look for some higher tier wide-outs because of the 6 slots. As far as QB's go, I would want atleast one of the Top 7 QB's, one from the Cutler/Kolb/Eli/Ryan/Flacco tier, and then some upside (A Henne/Big Ben)
I would say that the key to a league like this would be balance. Try to have a guy at each position from each tier. Since sleepers will ALL be drafted, once you get to the middle of the draft, go for guys that are assured playing time. A #2 WR on a bad team will be worth more than a 4rth on a better team. Go for playing time late.
Here's what I ended up with. Team looks great, no doubt, but so does every other team. This format should be interesting.
