Michael Bush was the first-team tailback, ahead of Darren McFadden, to open Raiders OTAs Wednesday.

Bush got the first carry, with McFadden behind him in team drills. The battle is ongoing, but Oakland appears to have acknowledged that Bush is the superior early-down option. McFadden's draft status will have no bearing on the competition. Ideally, Bush will lead the team in carries while McFadden is used mostly in open space and contributes more in the receiving game.

About freaking time. Could the Raiders make 2 smart decisions in a year? Praised for their draft, and putting the proper personnel on the field?

Mcfadden is a better fit for that style anyway. Bush can bang through the middle to soften things up.

Bush could end up being a great value pick in the middle rounds.

I fully expect to hear that the Krypt-keeper passed away last season. First sign was when Cable wasn't fired, break from tradition, then JaCarcass and McFaddy lose their jobs. Does anyone know if their are funeral dirges eminating from Raiders HQ?

I'm pretty sure the Krypt-keeper died at least 10 years ago. His body was implanted with a robot programed to mimic bad Al. Much like the robot implanted in Keith Richards, only his robot was programed to rip on the guitar, drink a half gallon of booze, and smoke a pack of cigs a day. I'm guessing Al's system has either been re-programed or it's malfunctioning. :-?

Totally agree that Bush should be on the field more, he is the best back in Oakland.

No robotic device known to man could withstand the abuse Keith Richards puts on his body.

Well if people remember that when he was coming into his senior season in college he was a Heisman hopeful and was supposed to be right up there with A. Peterson as the best two rb's to be coming out. But he broke his leg in his senior year and then in ever worse luck he was drafted by Oakland. I think that the more power Cable gets the more that you will see of him and the more you will see McFadden used as a R. Bush type rb. I think he is a beast and could have a break out year this year and be a solid #2 rb and maybe even a low end #1 with the weak AFC West division.

Current ADP is 9th round but in a skilled league I would take him sooner than that depending on the flow of the draft. I don' think I would have an issue as early as 6th round if RB's were flying off the board.

Michael Bush (could miss one month)

Postby bungle613 » Sun Aug 29, 2010 1:14 am

Michael Bush will see a hand specialist on Sunday after breaking his thumb in Saturday's game against the 49ers.

Coach Tom Cable refused to name a timetable on Bush's return until after he sees the specialist. Bush had to get a teammate to help tie his shoes after the game, so it wouldn't be a surprise if he ends up missing regular season action with the injury. Darren McFadden may now have an opening for the Week 1 starting job.

Such a shame. Hopefully it heals in time for him to reclaim a starting role over McBrittle. I took him as my 5th RB.
