Draft advice - pick 11/12 PPR

Postby pacoweaz » Sun Aug 29, 2010 11:09 am

In a yahoo keeper league (first year). PPR. I've got pick 11 of 12 teams in a snaking draft. Need to figure out my strategy for the first 2 picks. Obviously the big name backs are going to be gone at this point. The Flex position can be a RB/WR/TE/QB. So I want to make sure to get at least 1 of the big QB's. Do I go with a Rodgers/Romo/Manning/Schaub with 1 pick and a Deangelo Williams/Matthews/Mendenhall/Charles with the 2nd? Or do I go with a Wayne/Johnson/Marshall @ WR in there? Maybe even grab 2 of the big QB's right away?

I'm leaning toward the QB/WR combo with the first 2, as I might be able to find a gem with the 3rd and 4th picks later on. What do you think?

I like WR, WR, RB, QB, RB, QB as my top 6 targets. Then take best available WR/RB/TE the rest of the draft

What kind of QB can I expect with that 4th pick though? That's end of the 4th round. And with the potential of 2 QB's starting, Not sure I want to pass up on a Rodgers, Romo, Brady, Manning, Brees if available.

In my leagues at the end of the 4th round you have guys like Cutler, Favre, E.Manning, Kolb, Flacco, Palmer. Guys who have the potential to hit the level of those top guys.

I'd be more worried about passing up guys like Calvin Johnson, Randy Moss, & Reggie Wayne, especially in a PPR league.

What's a passing TD worth? 3, 4 or 6?
Any bonus points for yardage?
What are your keeper rules?

6 points per TD (receiving, passing, rushing)
1 point per reception
1 point for 200 yard receiving, 400 yards passing, 200 yards rushing.

Keeper rules, frankly, not sure. I'm actually the commish, but it's a new league and I'm actually keeping it open whether it'll be keeper or not as I don't know all the managers myself. Probably will keep 3 players though, maybe 4. Have a 15 man roster.

I do agree, I think I want to make sure and grab a top flight WR. Should be able to get one at 11 or 14th overall picks.

With 6 points per passing TD then I agree, take one of the top 3 QBs (Rodgers, Brees, Manning) and a top 4 WR with your 1st 2 picks.
