Defending Champ - How Did I Do? WHIR..

Postby AJPennSt » Sun Aug 29, 2010 7:53 pm

I ended up with the 8th pick which was least desirable for me. This is a 12 team PPR league. I went for a lot of upside for a lot of my picks and my glaring weakness is at RB. Hopefully Bush can put up some catches at least or Bradshaw can break out..

QB - Aaron Rodgers, Chad Henne
RB - Jamaal Charles/Thomas Jones, Reggie Bush, Ahmad Brashdaw, Bernard Scott
WR - Calvin Johnson, Wes Welker, Malcolm Floyd, Devin Aromashodu, Santonio Holmes
TE - Jermichael Finley
DEF - San Diego (Easy schedule to start)
K - Mason Crosby

I feel one of Floyd/Aroma/Holmes will breakout and Calvin/Welker will produce (especially Welker in a PPR). I'm going to see how my RB's perform for a week or two.. Let me know what you think and post your link for me!

QB - Aaron Rodgers, Chad Henne - Rodgers :)
RB - Jamaal Charles/Thomas Jones, Reggie Bush, Ahmad Brashdaw, Bernard Scott - kinda weak here, hopefully

TE - Jermichael Finley - stud
DEF - San Diego (Easy schedule to start)

Rodgers is a stud - no doubt about it, the Packers look scary good on the offensive side of the ball. However, I'm assuming you took him at 8, whiich is why I hate going QB early - leaves you thin in other areas...

You said it, RB is your weak point - IMO, a lot hinges on Bradshaw, if he can improve on last years #'s, stay healthy, and hold off Jacobs - you have a potential lowend RB1 IMO. The KC backfield will probably put up some numbers, hopefully it becomes clear you's getting the majority of thoe numbers early in the year.

I love Calvin, Welker worries me (IDK how anyone can get over an ACL in 7 months) - he'd look at lot better as WR3, if he's right, he's wonderful, if not - Edelman is a good add if you have room. I like Floyd & Holmes.

Finley is a no brainer start for the 1st 9 weeks of the year (GB bye = week 10), and IMO, he has as good a chance as any TE to put up WR like numbers on a weekly basis.

Thanks guys - My mindset going in was either a top flight RB or Andre Johnson in the first round otherwise I'm picking the top QB. I think there are a lot of risky tier 2 guys so I felt more comfortable going Rodgers especially with TD's at 6 points/piece. I didn't see much value at the RB position at the turn as I did with Calvin Johnson. Third round I had to pick a running back and Charles had the most upside IMO - it only helped that I was able to get Thomas Jones very late in the draft. I'm hoping Bradshaw stays health because I think he can put up some numbers if so and Reggie Bush in a PPR league is valuable. I really like Floyd if he's Rivers #1 and Cutler seems to like Aroma. Holmes scored well in PPR last year for me and I could take a flier on him late. Here's to hoping Finley catches a lot of TD's - 6 points minimum for Rodgers, 6 points minimum for Finley, and an XP for Crosby! We'll see - anyone else have any feedback? I may look to trade for RB but I think I may stick it out and see how the RB's start..

P.S. - I dropped Bernard Scott for Leon Washington

While I don't like your RB situation, you do have some upside. Charles could have a hell of a year, in which case you are set. Having Jones as a handcuff doesn't hurt you either. You need some thigns to fall into place for you, but you're in ok shape.

Good team. Just keep an eye on RB situations throughout the year. Grab a breakout and your set!
