I think i just drafted my worst team ever. while i don't think i overpayed for anyone in particular, I blew my auction budget pretty quick, and my leaguemates made me pay, out biding me for all my targets. I ended up with four pretty good players and a bunch of scrubs. Do you think I can do anything with this team? what's the first thing you'd do to improve it?
ESPN Standard 12 team league QB: Gerrard RB: Turner RB: Gore Flex: Forsett WR: Moss WR: Boldin TE: Boss DEF: Jets K: Crosby
Bench: Washington, Heyward-bey, J. Walker, Gerhart, Anthony Gonzalez, Cribbs, and Chambers
so, Really no backup RBs (and no promising ones on the WW) I'm thinking of picking up Louis Murphy of Nanee. which bench player would you drop for them?
With the exception of QB, your starters look solid. Probably one of the better RB tandems I've seen plus two great Wide-Outs. I do agree that your bench is pretty week. When it comes time for bye weeks, or if injuries start rolling in, you might be scrapping for points, but all in all.....not bad. I would hang tight on the waivers. Wait for the first one or two weeks to play out. Injuries will happen and some new stars will emerge, then make you're move and you'll be ok. Keep in mind, most championships are not won in drafting, but in how one manages their team. Good luck!
This is not a bad team at all. Garrard is actually somewhat under-rated. He is not a stud, however he is definitely serviceable. I won my league with him in the last few weeks of the 2009 season.
I agree with the others who have replied; your team is a lot better than what you made it out to be in the title of your post. Without knowing exactly who is available, I would do as another poster suggested and wait until someone emerges in the first couple weeks and target them.
Can you start a WR as your flex? Do you award any points for special team/return yardage? If yes, Cribbs is a decent bench player for you...I also think Mike Sims-Walker will have a decent year. Overall, I like your team.
I’ll have to disagree with Sobore and say that having a QB like Garrard will be by far the most frustrating thing about your fantasy season. Your starters beyond that are all good minus forsett…not sure how that will pan out for you but if he does end up starting he’ll get decent point for a flex spot. I would go for Nanee right away and drop Heyward-Bey. Chambers should be good, but you are going to have to figure something else out at QB…if Vince Young, or Stafford are available I’d look to grab them and platoon them with Garrard. As for running back depth, players to add to your scout team are, L. Washingotn, if he’s not already drafted. R. torain, K. Huggins….good luck and I’m telling you if there is any chance for you to improve that QB you’ll have a much more enjoyable fantasy football experience.
You have one of the better problems to deal with in fantasy football... your bench is terrible. Obviously you won't have to torture yourself on a weekly basis over who to sit/start. Personally, I would dread the matchup against your team, cause you have the potential to post 12 touchdowns on any given week.
As far as waivers go, I would dump Javon Walker to get Naanee. Javon Walker isn't going to do anything at all. Harvin's migraine problem is no big deal, and the Vikes picked up Camarillo as well. So that's Harvin, Berrian, Camarillo at 1, 2, 3 until Sidney Rice gets back. And Shiancoe will still be getting plenty of looks.
12 team H2H league, standard scoring, no PPR. QB: Cutler, Kitna RB: All Day AP, CJ2K, F.Jax, R.Brown, S. Greene, Dixon WR: G. Jennings, Roy Williams, M. Williams (sea) TE: J. Tamme Def: Denver K: Hartley, Carpenter
I dont believe that there isnt any RBs on the waiver wire. You have 5 WRs to backup Moss and Boldin. That should be least of your worries. You'll never bench them unless they are hurt. cut some WRs and try landing some potential at RB,and at least play matchups with your QB. Find another QB and rotate him in.
I gotta agree with everything thats been said. Your starters are nice, minus the QB, and your bench needs help. Washington is a nice bench guy, though, and you should run to grab Naanee immediately. He'll be the guy everyone is racing to grab after the first couple of weeks, I'm sure of it. If Laurent Robinson or Louis Murphy are available, you might wanna think about them too. Garrard isn't that bad, though. I'm hoping he hooks up with Sims-Walker all season long.
Thanks everyone for your imputs. I suppose the team isn't near the worst, I was probably reacting to the frustration of seeing 50 players go without having a shot any of them. The bench is clearly the team's potentially fatal flaw, which is, i guess, to be expected on a team where 62% of the players were bought for a buck.
I added Nanee, dropped Walker, and here are the availible Runners of Note:
Westbrook Ringer or Blount (Tenn Backup) Johnson or Parker or Torrian (Wash Backup) Huggins or Ward (TB Backup)
Nothing to write home about. Given those options, who would you pick up?
