Thoughts on my team. A little WR heavy.

Postby mrp44 » Mon Aug 30, 2010 3:13 pm

Ive done a couple mock drafts and Ive never done it this way but I couldnt help myself at the 12 spot in a 12 team nonppr league. My plan was for only 2 wrs, but when Colston came to me I couldnt stop from hitting the draft button. Listed in order of draft.
Reggie Wayne
Larry Fitzgerald
Marques Colston
Antonio Gates
Ronnie Brown
Brandon Jacobs
Tim Hightower
Felix Jones
Carson Palmer
Chad Henne
Dexter McCluster
Julian Edelman
Chicago Bears
Jay Feely
My starting lineup in week 1 would be QB-Carson Palmer WR-Wayne,Fitzgerald,Colston RB-Ronnie Brown,Tim Hightower TE-Antonio Gates K-Feely D-Bears

That group of RBs scares me. No workhorse out of the bunch, and Hightower will staedily recieve less carries. Though Colston seems to be good value, a RB there would make the team look great.

I have to agree. I like the recieving core you have, but if you would have grabbed a solid RB instead of Colston, your team would look a lot better. Gotta have those beast backs on the team. I still like the team, though, you should be able to do well, I think. But maybe make a trade.

You may try and see what your league-mates' thought on Fitz are. I see a regression this year, not based on skill, but based on his QB situation. If someone believes otherwise, you may be able to get backa big-time RB and a downgrade at WR. Maybe even packaging Fitz with one of Hightower/Jones/Jacobs could get you a #1 RB AND a #3 WR with nice upside.

I have the same thoughts but after going WR-WR in rd 1-2 the "workhorse" backs were gone by picks 36 & 37. So Id rather add another top tier WR I know will produce, and gamble on WR. I mean last year my best back was Cedric Benson I drafted in round 8. I was about to draft Pierre Thomas but he went right before Colston. I know I could do a 1 for 1 trade for him. because we were talking at the draft and he kept bringing it up. What you think about that?

A lot of people are down on Thomas this year, and I don't blame them. But on the other hand, Mike Bell is gone, and they are using Reggie more as a reciever. I think Thomas has a change to have a damn good year. If I were you, I would do that trade, then your team is much more balanced.

Theres potential value in your RB picks and if they dont pan, you can easily package one with one of your stud receivers for something more legitimate. e.g. You can probably trade Colston and Felix Jones for something like Dwayne Bowe and Arian Foster to get more balance on your team. I would look into this esp since your league is non ppr

if you can make that deal, you just robbed a bank.

Ok, maybe Colston and Felix for something like Knox and Arian is bit more realistic.

Going Gates in the 4th kills this team for me....would've been SO much better if you grab Schaub/Rivers there and then grab a guy like Winslow 6 rounds later...or a guy like Heath Miller in the last round...
