8th pick in 10 team, did I drop the ball?

The top 2 QBs were gone as well as the top 4 Rbs by the time it came to me, so I went with a new strategy for me and selected WR/WR with my 1st 2 picks. I waited for a QB until the 7th round, did I fail? Thanks.

WR: Calvin Johnson
WR/TE: Steve Smith (Giants)

I don't think it was a total fail in doing the WR/WR combo, but I would like to have seen who else was available at that time for RB. RB is your week spot for sure because I don't know about putting my team on the line counting on P.Thomas and J.Charles the whole time. Both are in a RBBC type situation with R.Bush being in NO and now T.Jones being in KC. I think that the Eli pick at 7th round was decent and a good decision to wait since the top 3 were gone.
