Did I salvage my draft? WHIR

Postby El_Filibusterismo » Wed Sep 01, 2010 6:58 pm

12 member Standard Non-PPR Yahoo except -4 INT and 1 keeper.

Round by Round: (Position 1)

1. Frank Gore (Keeper)
2. Shonn Greene
3. Marques Colston
4. Hakeem Nicks
5. Dallas Clark
6. Mike Wallace
7. Joe Flacco
8. Cadillac Williams
9. Braylon Edwards
10. Mohammed Massaqoui
11. Carson Palmer
12. Steve Slaton
13. Golden Tate
14. Dallas
15. Tynes

Ok. As it is plainly obvious, I am hurting at WR. The first two rounds of the draft went WR heavy, leaving Colston the best WR available at the snake. I would be chasing the tail end of the WR's from then on so I decided to buck the trend and pick Colston and Greene.

I tried salvaging my weaknesses at the position by drafting Dallas Clark early and drafting breakout WR candidates such as Nicks and Wallace. This left me with a deficiency at QB so I took a potential breakout QB in Flacco (Kolb was available but the -4 INT scared me off of him).

Needless to say, I feel like I took too many risks and now I am wary of the outlook of my team. Am I destined for failure?

As always, WHIR.

Well, you said it. WR is your weakspot. I like Nicks and Colston, but more as #2s than your star. I like Flacco and think he'll probably be a top-12 (8-12, my guess) QB this year. I think Massaquoi could be a solid #3 for you this year, too.

Not a bad team by any stretch - you just don't have much margin for error with your WRs.

Thanks for the help on mine.

I don't think your too bad at WR. Wallace will be better than your thinking. With Holmes gone, he will be at least a #2. Plus what is HInes Ward, like 40 now? lol. Clark is a stud as well. If golden tate isn't a factor early on, I'd be tempted to scoop up L Naanee. Also depends on Vincent Jackson though.. Good luck.

I think you salvaged it pretty well. Clark was the right grab at 5, and Flacco has the potential to put up a quiet top-8 year. Love the weapons he has around him. Love your thought process on bucking the trend...draft lemmings make me crazy. If your two RB's stay healthy, you're going to be just fine, I think. Nicely played.

Help with mine? viewtopic.php?f=44&t=471075

Thanks, good luck!
