New to this.. first live draft. How did I do?

Postby vincentp83 » Wed Sep 01, 2010 8:47 pm

This is only my second year playing fantasy football and my first time doing a live draft. I tried to do as much research as possible but I ended up getting all flustered in the moment and just kind of made a bunch of gut choices (probably bad). I think my team turned out OK, but what do I know. Any experts want to weigh in and give me some insight or advice?

League is using Yahoo's standard scoring, 1QB 2RB 3WR 1TE 1DEF 1K

QB Aaron Rodgers
QB Matt Stafford
RB Frank Gore
RB Beanie Wells
RB C.J. Spiller
RB Arian Foster
WR Greg Jennings
WR Miles Austin
WR Michael Crabtree
WR Steve Breaston
TE Owen Daniels
TE Jeremy Shockey
DEF Minnesota
DEF Atlanta
K Lawrence Tynes

I'd try to trade a running back (probably Wells) for an upgrade at tight end.

10 teams in the league. I feel like I got a bit lucky with some of the rounds. Beanie Wells was still available in round 7 when I finally picked him up. I started late in the draft - 6th pick in round 1. I went RB (Gore), QB (Rodgers), then 3 receivers in a row, ending up with Austin-Jennings-Crabtree. Filled out the roster from there. I was hoping I did all right. Seems from the responses that it wasn't a bad strategy. Thanks everyone. I wasn't sure how this would end up working out... and of course you never know, but it seems solid and I'm glad to see some positive responses to it.
