McCoy/Forte (or Bradshaw) for SJax, PPR? WHIR

Postby schmidty » Fri Sep 03, 2010 5:07 pm

I'm looking over my roster and thinking of things I can do. While I like my team, a weakness appears to be that I have 3 RB2s while lacking a RB1. I'm looking through the league for someone with the opposite problem (a good PPR RB1, but no RB depth), and the SJax owner jumped out at me. It's 12-team PPR (so you bump up the pass-catching RBs from normal rankings) - otherwise scoring is pretty normal. We start: QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, K, DEF.

My team:

QB: Brees, Alex Smith
RB: McCoy, Best, Forte, Bradshaw, Hightower
WR: Wayne, Welker, Santana Moss, TO, Gaffney
TE: Zach Miller
K: Folk
DEF: SD

His team:

QB: Peyton Manning, Ryan
RB: SJax, Moreno, Hardesty
WR: Colston, Harvin, Berrian, Braylon Edwards, Roy Williams
TE: Clark, Olsen
K: Longwell
DEF: SF, Indy

Do you think trading 2 RBs (I think I'd want to keep Best) for SJax (he'd drop Hardesty) is a good move for me? Or should I stand pat at RB, keeping the depth and figuring there's enough upside for at least one of my RB2s to emerge as a RB1?

The Ray Rice and Frank Gore teams also look to be shallow at RB. I think all of us would rather have those 2 guys than SJax, but their teams are in better shape. And the SJax owner is publicly deriding his team, and is someone that I've traded with in the past. For what it's worth:

Ray Rice team:

QB: Schaub, McNabb
RB: Rice, Felix Jones, LDT, Fred Jackson
WR: DeSean Jackson, Crabtree, Meachem, Chambers, Cribbs, Amedola
TE: Daniels
K: Reed
DEF: Balt

Gore team:

QB: Romo, Josh Johnson
RB: Gore, Greene, Michael Bush
WR: Boldin, Ward, Jacoby Jones, Aromashodu, Walter
TE: Celek, H Miller
K: Crosby, Bironas
DEF: Minn

What ever trade you do, please get rid of McCoy. I dont like him, at all. I am an eagles fan so I watched him and the eagles all last season and I can't tell you how non-existant their run game is. McCoy will probably end up getting the number of carries a back up would a regular offence and for the few carries he does get he will get little help from the weak looking offensive line. If you can trade McCoy and Forte for Jackson, go for it. (P.S. Bradshaw will most likely start so hold onto him because the run game is a big part of the giants offense)

I'd try Mcoy and Bradshaw. Call me a homer but Forte will bounce back plus it's ppr, Forte will catch a lot of balls, even if they aren't huge gains Cutler will be dumping it off w a weak o line.

Thanks. So you think my team improves by doing this kind of trade as opposed to standing pat with my RBs?

Thanks for your help!

Love your qb, wr's and Miller. While I agree you don't have a rb1 you have great depth. I've had more than one good team over the years get into the playoffs then run out of RBs. I'd keep your depth and look to swing a trade around week eight or so when you can trade depth for starting lineup power for the playoffs. Good luck!

Offer McCoy and Bradshaw for SJax. He'll take the trade, most likely, as Hardesty just took a bad knee injury and he'll need depth. Good trade for both teams.

Thanks for the help with mine! viewtopic.php?t=471393 if anyone else wants to chime in.

I would trade McCoy and Bradshaw for SJax. Forte has more value in a ppr league than Bradshaw does.

i don't like mccoy at all, he is probable ur worst back out of the 3 mentioned...but i love best, bradshaw(now that he is the featured back) and i absolutly love forte in PPR, under the mike martz offense he will get over 50 passes thrown his way imo...i like the upside of all three of those guys, so i would probable stay put.

S. jackson is still behind the shittest line in football, and i've been watchin preseason, looks like they might have got worst, if thats possible. plus the injry risk with him.

I'd personly try out the other two owners, don't hurt to try, and if they don't bite, i'd stay put.

if you do a trade for Jackson, i'd try bradshaw/mccoy

thanks for the help with mine, and mine is a 10 team league, non-ppr with 2rbs-2wrs- 1wr/rb/te....i also thought i might have been giving up too much on a few trades, cus i'm high on steve smith too, but i was kinda trying to package steve smith away becuase i have deangelo wlliams and i dont want them fighting for points on my team, i'd rather just have one or the other. is this a stupid theory to have?

Guys can say all they want about how bad the rams will be or how weak the O line is for them. The bottom line is SJax is a big time workhorse for them. He seems healthy and should get a ton of touches. He's clearly the best option compared to all of your RBs. True, you will lose a bit of depth, but getting a potential top performing RB for a couple of 3rd tier RBs is worth it. And in PPR leagues, SJax is golden. If you can do a 2 for 1 for the better player in a trade, you almost always do it.

I kind of agree with the above post. You do have great depth at RB but if you can trade and get first round talent why not? SJax is money in PPR. On the other hand you could have a RB1 in waiting. 1 injury away from that.
