RBs in Keeper re-draft

Postby cubbieball10 » Sat Sep 04, 2010 11:20 am

Have been in the process of moving from California to Chicago for the last month and have had zero time to research my noon draft today. However, it does seem appropriate that I will be drafting from my parents basement today, which is where I first did my drafts when I first fell in love with fantasy sports. Hand tallied scores from the papers box scores seems like ages ago now.

Have the 4th overall in our keeper re-draft. Kept players from previous season are QB1 Philip Rivers, QB2 Matt Ryan, RB1 Cedric Benson, RB2 Matt Forte, WR1 Roddy White, WR2 Marques Colston.

1. Targeting an RB in with the #4 pick (first three will most likely be Ryan Matthews, Kevin Kolb, and Miles Austin) and waffling between Arian Foster and CJ Spiller. Can you help me out on pros and cons for both players? Is it safe to say that Arian Foster has no competition for carries in Houston but CJ Spiller has the more long-term upside/break-out talent ability?

2. If you had to select a handcuff for either Benson or Forte, whose would you choose? Bernard Scott for Benson or Chester Taylor for Forte?

I have Foster and Spiller ranked very close actually, both around the 17-20 range....but i can see Foster having a larger year than his draft position. Spiller i think has far more upside, and is the obviously superior talent...but plays in Bufallo. It's a tough call, but in a keeper i think i would go Spiller first....Foster has been in this position before and hasnt come through....yes he plays in a high powered offense, but they are a pass HEAVY offense, centred on Schaub, AJ, Daniels, and this year i see Jacody Jones busting out as well. Bufally will need Spiller to be the centerpiece of the offense...(he will lose carries yes to Jackson and maybe Lynch, but they will try to get the ball into Spillers hands in any way possible.) For the upside alone, i would side with Spiller, barely, but would not fault you for going the other way.

As for your handcuff, if you could only chose 1, again i go with upside. Bernard Scott is explosive, and with Bensons checkered injury history, could be the guy in Cinci before long. He is also much younger, and if Benson doesnt re sign in Cinci, Scott is next in line.
