Darren McFadden's Future Prospects

Postby Kareighuis » Mon Sep 06, 2010 2:41 pm

Two years later, I still don't know what to think of the guy. Either-

1- He's a super-fast featured back. If Fargas could produce with Russell at QB, imagine what DMC could do with Campbell. With Fargas gone and Bush injured, he has the RB spot locked up. Reports he bulked up over the offseason seal the deal. From this perspective, he's a buy-low.

2- He's been injury prone in the NFL and lacks the lower body strength to run inside, which his offseason work didn't address. The fact he's got the majority of his team's carries means he's more likely to get injured again. At best, he can play a Reggie Bush type role. From this perspective, he's a sell.

I have him in one dynasty and don't know whether to hold or sell. Anyone's opinion about him change over the years?

I would imagine his dynasty value is pretty low right now, so I don't know that you have a choice but to stay with him. He could get moved to another team next year or something. If he landed somewhere like San Fran or something, he could be nice change of pace back with the potential to inherit a starting job on a better offense.

I wouldn't hold my breath, but I think holding onto him for another season at least is worth seeing what happens. I don't have any expectations of him doing anything noteworthy this year.

He'll be another Al Davis bust. Sure he'll stick around like Bush but he won't be worth the draft pick they used on him. Not to mention he can't stay healthy.

Dunno about this. Bush is doing just fine and is looking like a lock to be starting Week 1. If Bush doesn't start week 1 he will for sure have at bare minimum half the carries. The report about him being out at least 4-6 weeks is looking like is was very much false, it was put out by a doctor who never even had direct contact with Bush.

I'm giving him the first 4 weeks, if he can't produce now I think never is around the corner.

I have been burned as badly as anyone over the last few years by McFadden, but am willing to give him another shot. I believe that both Bush and McFadden will be the beneficiaries of Jamarcus Russell and Bruce Gradkowski no longer being at the helm, and Jason Campbell taking over.

I dunno, toast only burns on two sides, but McFadden seems to be an eternal flame. Not sure that he will get the chance to live up to his potential. He just seems to lack a certain something, like heart.
