10 Team $ League - 5th Pick

Postby JRM4833 » Mon Sep 06, 2010 9:33 pm

I had the 5th pick and MJD dropped to me.

QB: Rodgers (2)
RB: Jones Drew (1)
RB: Charles (4)
WR: Austin (3)
WR: Crabtree (6)
WR: Welker (7)
Flex: Foster (5)
TE: Cooley (14)
DEF: Balt (12)
K: Akers (15)
Bench: Bradshaw (8), T. Owens (9), Forsett (10), B. Edwards (11), J. Jones (13), Huggins (16)

What are my biggest strengths? Weaknesses? Thanks and WHIR.
When in doubt, punt!

I like this team. Even after getting a QB early, you were able to get solid WRs. I tend to have problems with that if I take a QB in the first 3 rounds. I think the weakness of this roster is the TE. I would watch all the available TEs closely for the first few weeks in case Cooley doesn't work out. The only pick i disagree with was Edwards, but that is just personal preference.

Thanks. I never pick a QB early because they always tend to get taken too early for my liking. But I liked having Rodgers fall that far to me given that I've seen him go in the first round plenty of times this year in mocks, etc. I agree on TE, which is a position that I basically punted in favor of having a lot of depth. Cooley could end up decent with McNabb but who knows? And as for Edwards, I had him last season and am not very high on him but I think it was between him and Berrian (not 100% sure though) and I went with Edwards with the hope that he plays for a big contract next year.

I would have done the same thing if Rodgers was there in the middle of the 2nd. On my draft list he was a late first round pick. I think having a solid group of RB and WR is better than spending a high pick on a TE, and if all the good ones are gone before you can get one you might as well just wait till later in the draft. It is usually hard for me to pass up one of the top Tight Ends if they still there in the 5th round. They look good, but probably aren't good for you :-)

Here is my 10 man roster. I ended up waiting on a QB.
