I think my league mate got ripped off..

12 Team PPR league, my friend traded Phillip Rivers for Donovan McNabb and Jabar Gaffney. I think he got taken, but I figured I would get some unbiased opinions... thoughts?

I guess that would depend on who is WRs are. I would think that Rivers would be worth more than McNabb and Gaffney, but without looking at his roister, hard to say. There's a team in my league that has 4 WRs on his roster (we play 3) and 2 of his are Holmes and Jackson. He would love to have Gaffney. Anyway, the deal looks weird at face value, and likely is.

Don't think I would have traded Rivers for that but I'll bet Gafney shocks alot of people this year. The team has to throw to someone and he is a crafty vet who can get open and knows the system.

I think your buddy took one on the chin but I don't think it's that horrible. I think Gaffney has a lot of upside -- though not so much as to make up for the downgrade from Rivers to McNasty.

I should also mention this is a repeated pattern of abuse. Last year, the same two owners made a similar swap that sent Drew Brees away primarily to get Antonio Bryant. I don't think its collusion. I think the guy making these trades is a classic after draft panicker.

Personally, I feel like it is easier to replace a no. 2 WR than it is to replace a top tier QB.

Jabar Gaffney and D-Nab? Eh, to put it kindly that's not a return. If I can have other options, I'd want them. Neither are starting material right now.
