Pick up Tim Hightower?

Postby TriniEagle » Wed Sep 08, 2010 3:22 pm

Hi Guys,

New to the site and new to Fantasy Football.

So Tim Hightower was just released by an opponent in my league. I am weak in the RB area and wonder if it is worth drafting him. This is my team:

QB - flacco
RB - Best
RB - Wells
WR - Smith (Car)
WR - Moss
WR - Fitzgerald
TE - Gonzalez

BUs: Felix Jones, Donald Driver, Pierre Garcon, Donald Brown, Matt Cassel and LeSean McCoy

I realise that I already have 3 Cards on my team and Hightower would also be the 5th player on my team to be on a bye week on week 6.

In terms of my selection strategy, I had intended to draft a RB in Rnd 1, but watching the top 4 RBs go before me, which I guess was expected, led me to make a decision to take Moss 1st and seeing Fitzgerald on the way back I couldn't leave him there, so my team ends up being very strong in the pass, but with no top RB... unless Best turns out to be a force this season.

What do you think?

Thanks :-)

Yes I would pick him up and drop Matt Cassel. Beanie could end up being a bust.

Even though you don't have a #1 type RB, you do have very good depth. I don't think it's too imperative that you pick up Hightower. If you want insurance on Wells, then go for it.

Drop Cassel for him.. I assume there are a decent number of free agent QBs to fill in for Flaccos bye?

If you plan on sticking with Flacco every week... then drop Cassel and get Hightower pronto! Hightower is listed as the starter for week 1, and he's always a TD vulture anyway. I have him starting in my flex for week 1 against STL.

@shaq, - there is a slight shortage in QBs, strange draft all - rookies... which is why i ended up with such a deep WR roster... 3 big starters, Driver and Garcon in reserve!! Some guys picked 3 QBs.

I think the next top rated QBs available are Orton, Garrard, Campbell then Hasselback and now Cassel. I was considering taking Henne since his matchup against the Falcons is quite favorable.. but this would only be temporary until I could secure a real back up. What do you think?

First, good move on picking up Hightower and dropping Cassel.

Second, I disagree that Henne's matchup is "quite favorable". I think it's a tough matchup.

I actually like Orton better than Flacco for week one... and I like Orton better than the other available FA QBs for the long term as a backup.

Thanks Indi... so here is my new problem, by releasing Cassel I have 1 spot on my roster... do I continue with Orton or Hightower (currently awaiting waiver - I will get him Saturday morning). Should I release Brown to free up both spots?
