Starting Qualms...

Postby n-MITY » Thu Sep 09, 2010 3:22 pm

Hey guys, new to your forum and I must say I really like it. For week 1, I'm posed with a couple of starting issues. First of all details, I play in a 12-player non-ppr standard league. My roster is as follows:

QB--Carson Palmer
RB--Ryan Mathews
RB--Jahvid Best
WR--Andre Johnson
WR--Mike Sims-Walker
WR--Robert Meachem
TE--Visanthe Shiancoe
D/ST--Eagles
K--Matt Prater
BN--Kyle Orton
BN--Matt Forte
BN--Ricky Williams
BN--Mike Wallace
BN--Chris Chambers

So my questions lie within the RB and WR spots. Do I start Jahvid Best (@Bears) or Matt Forte (vs. Lions)? Do I start Robert Meachem (vs. Vikings) or Mike Wallace (vs. Falcons)? What are your thoughts about those questions and my overall roster?

Welcome to the cafe! I would probably roll with Best over Forte cause of the home run ability. Its close though. Although I think Detroits run stopping is going to be MUCH better this year. I just dont like RBs that much in a Mike Martz system and i would wait to see how they use Forte is all. On the other one I would go with Meach I think. Better QB, better offense, better chances. I dont think i would want to play any WR with Charlie Batch throwing them the ball or whoever the hell is starting for Pitt. Good luck man!

Check mine out if you get a chance.

Thank you very much, Lat! What's better is you pretty much reiterated the same reasons I was going to start each of those players. I'm excited for Best with Lions, particularly because I can see him stirring up the mix against the Bears' D. He's fresh and Stafford will be using him often to set up the pass, and even use him in the pass. As for Meachem and Wallace, Meachem has Brees and is going against a depleted Vikings secondary at home. And Wallace has Dixon throwing to him, which scares me as much as you. I've just seen so many people call him a sleeper and I simply think that doesn't apply until Ben's return.

I will check out your team too, unless you were wanting me to check out a certain thread instead. Thanks again, talk to ya soon!

Im excited about the Lions too. It FINALLY looks like we are going to put an NFL team out on the field. First time in eh about 20 years or so.
