Marion Barber- Should I Pickup?!

Postby silentbuttdeadly » Thu Sep 09, 2010 4:49 pm

Hey, fellas. I need some advice- Marion Barber was waived in my league and I have the number one spot on the waiver priority. I already have seven RB's on a 16 man roster, which is a ton. Our league is a PPR- 1 pt. per reception. The backs I have now are M. Turner, P. Thomas, J. Addai, K. Moreno, T. Jones, L.T. and B. Jacobs. I am really thin at WR but was hoping to trade a RB down the line once they produce for a proven WR this season. We also start one TE and I have Vernon Davis and Chris Cooley. Also, someone waived Willis Mcgahee. Would you in my situation drop someone above for M. Barber or should I stand pat and wait till week one is over and use my number 1# waiver priority?
Thanks- Chris

Hard to say... you have every single RB who's in a RBBC, you might as well collect them all. I wouldn't use your #1 priority for him though. If you really wanted help at WR, Turner, PT, and Moreno are really your only trade bait. The others have no value until they prove they can score points during the season. I don't think anyone wants to take an unnecessary chance on anyone of those guys.

I am thinking the best ones to waive for him would be L.T., T. Jones, B. Jacobs or Cooley. I guess I could waive Cooley but I am thinking in a PPR league he and Mcnabb may have a great connection. Would you waive Cooley for Barber? Maybe I should. Youre right though I will wait to see if he makes it to free agency because that number one waiver spot could be huge.

Definitely don't waste that #1 WW spot on him. Try throwing a few trades offers out there but you'll best option is to wait a few weeks and see how things are panning out to make any decision.

One rule I have a hard time keeping: Don't overmanage your team! Find great starters and leave it at that. It doesn't matter if your bench outscores his bench. Your bench should be half filled with players who are backups in great systems; i.e. the NE QB, the HOU RB, etc.
QB: BREES, Cutler
RB: TURNER, MCGAHEE, R. JENNINGS, Leshoure, D. Williams, Hillman, Hunter, Dwyer
WR: CRUZ, GARCON, Amendola, Edwards, D. Baldwin
TE: GRAHAM
