Rate my Draft!

Postby jasonhightower » Sat Sep 11, 2010 1:51 pm

I ended up with the first pick in a 12 team league. No PPR and we run with 2 WR, 2RB and one flex RB/WR:

QB: Carson Palmer, Ben Roethlisberger
RB: Chris Johnson, Justin Forsett, Knowshon Moreno, Beanie Wells, Leon Washington, Larry Johnson
WR: Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Johnny Knox, Devin Aromashodu, Dexter McCluster
TE: Tony Gonzalez
K: Matt Prater
DEF: NY Giants

I'll be looking to drop probably Leon Washington and maybe Aromashodu after a week or two of low performances.

QB: Palmer's bye week is 6, the first week Roethlisberger is able to play. I'd be a little worried about that, he may be rusty (in fact, I almost chose Ben as my b/u to Palmer but decided against it for that reason). Otherwise, i think you made a good gamble with Ben - here's hoping Palmer is as good as we both think he will be!

RB: A whole lot of question marks beyond CJ. If Wells and Moreno can get healthy quickly then I think you will be OK, one or the other will wind up as a solid starter. Forsett, Washington, and LJ are all wait-and-see type players and I'd be worried that you might be out of the running by the time they sort themselves out, particularly if Wells and Moreno struggle or take a long time to heal.

WR: Great top two - I can't imagine anyone having a better two. As with RB, your depth is shakey and you're placing a lot of faith in Jay Cutler and Mike Martz being on the same page with Knox and Aromashodu, while McCluster is a rookie WR on a terrible offense.

I'm guessing you grabbed Tony Gonzalez in the 5th or 6th round? I'm not convinced he's that much better than someone you could've gotten several rounds later and, by doing so, you could've had the best available RB or WR (Bradshaw, Cadillac, Mike Wallace, for example, were probably available when you chose Gonzo) and improved your depth.

Overall you have some holes but, assuming you don't catch the injury bug, you should be OK until your backups shake out as either boom or bust.

Great depth at RB and WR. I'd try to get a top QB though, and you could probably work out a nice trade with all of the RB/WRs you have.
