Dez Bryant as my WR3?

Postby SmokyMcNasty » Mon Sep 13, 2010 1:19 am

What do you think of his potential to be a consistent #3 WR this season after waching tonight's game?

8 catches. Romo looked his way A LOT. About as many looks as Miles Austin got. Although Austin obviously got the longer passes while Dez caught a bunch of screen passes and short throws.

I started Bernard Berrian at #3 this week and he was absolutely useless, and I need a good WR to replace him. My #1 and #2 are Calvin Johnson and Ochocinco. On my bench right now is Dez and Mike Williams (Seahawks).. and I'm also stashing Vincent Jackson.

Am I set at WR or should I be hunting for better options? We start 3 WR's in my league.
QB - Drew Brees, Tony Romo
RB - Adrian Peterson, Trent Richardson, Alfred Morris, Jacquizz Rodgers
WR - Brandon Marshall, Julio Jones, Vincent Jackson, Anquan Boldin, Golden Tate
TE - Heath Miller
DEF - Rotating
K - Justin Tucker

As a cowboys fan, I liked what I saw, BUT

I am not sure I expect this every week. For one, the Redskins were putting a rookie CB on him for a majority of the game, and for two, when they didnt put the rookie CB on him, they were running corner back blitzes. This is why he was often open on those short 5-8 yard plays because the safety had to run down and cover him.

I would also watch for when Columbo comes back. Having that scrub in there caused Witten to stay in and block and lot more than usual which also limited him in the game, while giving more looks to Dez.

Dez will be good, but I am not sure how consistent he will be just because of how the RedSkins were playing him.
