Freaking out about Kolb, time to trade for Cutler or Romo?

Postby AngryLionsFAn » Mon Sep 13, 2010 2:02 am

I'm a Kolb & Celek owner in 2 leagues. I'm just about equally screwed in both leagues for backups too. 1st league I have the trendy Kolb/Big Ben combo, and in the 2nd league I have Kolb/Henne. Henne's 9 pts. with no TDs isn't inspiring either. Especially since he's facing Minn next week.

I'm thinking that if Kolb is cleared to play next week then I'm going to start him because he's playing the Lions. That's just too good of a matchup to pass on. If he's not healthy though I'm in trouble, especially if Dog Killer creates a legit QB controversy. I'm going to pick up Orton in the Kolb/Big Ben league, but the other one is pretty slim pickings. Garrard, Hasselbeck, or Campbell are the best I can pick up there.

Would you guys make a trade if you had the available RB depth to get Cutler or Romo? Is this too soon to panic?

I have Gore, MJD, Pierre Thomas, Bradshaw, Fred Jackson, Huggins, and Hillis in that league. One guy HOARDED QBs again this year and he has Manning, Romo, and Cutler. His RBs are Jamal Charles, Ricky Williams, McFadden, and Forsett. Basically, whoever I give him could be an instant starter. I'm thinking about making an offer to get Romo or Cutler. I'm not crazy about Cutler because I still think his O Line sucks and he's bound to make turnovers.

Is Bradshaw for Cutler worth it?

Would PT for Romo be enough from me?

I don't really want to try and trade for Romo because he's bound to ask for more for him.

Need to see the two rosters to know what you'd have after the trade.
I wouldn't offer a QB hoarder too much for one of his bench QB's. Start with a lowball offer. He hoarded in order to trade later, but you should let QB's rot on his bench if he's trying to extract a premium. He'll eventually get desperate and make a deal.
12 team H2H league, standard scoring, no PPR.

RB: All Day AP, CJ2K, F.Jax, R.Brown, S. Greene, Dixon

I can see trying to trade Bradshaw for Cutler. The problem for you is Mcfadden going off yesterday. He may not think he has to do anything with his Rbs. Especially if CHarels does well tonight. See what happens tonight and then test the waters with him. He has risky RBs for sure.

I would try to go Bradshaw for Romo. He's hurting at RB and he's gotta know it. Bradshaw is now a viable starter in every format, so there's nothing wrong with trying that and getting someone better than Cutler. I don't trust Cutler to do what he did yesterday every week.
I'm sorta new here...

Right now my roster is:

QB: Kolb, Henne
RB:MJD, Gore, Pierre Thomas, Bradshaw, Fred Jackson, Hillis, Huggins
WR: R. White, Malcolm Floyd, Sims-Walker, Knox, Collie, Edelman, Jacoby Jones
TE: Celek, Scheffler
K: Dan Carpenter
DEF: Steelers

I'm thinking of offering Bradshaw for Romo and tell him that I'm open to other offers if he wants to counter.

I agree with ZeroPointZero, I think you shouldn't offer too much to start out...you definitely need help though...did I read correctly that Garrard is available? If that's the case I'd pick him up...better than what you currently have...I'd even take him over Henne. If I read wrong, I'd try Bradshaw for Romo. I would NOT do Bradshaw for Cutler...Hope this helps some, thanks for the help & good luck with it!

Talked to the owner with Ryan Grant and we have a deal worked out. I just plucked Brandon Jackson off of the WW and I'm trading him for Eli Manning. Much better option IMO then trying to kiss @$$ to get Cutler or Romo. My RB depth stays the same too which is great.

I'm expecting to pull Orton off of waivers today too and that should be good enough. Orton can keep the seat warm until Big Ben plays or if/when Kolb rights the ship again.

I'm VERY relieved to have this sorted out!
