I It Right? -Waiver Question

Postby aldavis » Mon Sep 13, 2010 1:01 pm

I had very bad opening weekend with three players set to play tonight:

Flacco
Rice
Gates

If they combine for 60 points and Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe (on the other team) score 0, I would still lose this week.

My question: based on the league rules I don't have to play these three players, if I did this then I would get waiver position 1 and if I didn't I would probably be 4 or 5.

I want Mark Clayton (to replace Bernard Berrian) and Brandon Jackson (to handculf my now injured Ryan Grant).

Should I bench these three players to get a better waiver position? Or should I suck it up and keep the peace (expecially in week 1)?

Thanks,

Keep the peace? This is Fantasy Football, not international diplomacy. Rape and pillage your way to a championship, my friend. Benching these stars and taking advantage of the waiver setup is perfectly fine. What you're risking is missing the playoffs based on a total season points tiebreaker. Check the tiebreaker settings before you make this decision.
I'd definitely do what it takes to get that #1 priority, assuming your current matchup is truly hopeless. And wait and see what happens in tonight's games before you decide who to pick up. You might want Legedu Naanee instead, come tomorrow morning.

Good point about the playoffs. I guess that gives me a new question: Is it worth it?

My WR:
Roddy White
Mike Sims-Walker
Bernard Berrian
TO
Kenny Britt

The chance I'm going to win this week:
slim to none

What I'm risking:
about 50 points for a playoff tie breaker

What I will gain:
Mark Clayton (Naanee was picked up this morning)

Other options on waiver:
Brandon Tate, Mike Thomas, Brandon Lloyd, Manningham, every Seahawk WR

I don't understand how Naanee was picked up this morning if you have a waiver period, but it doesn't really matter since you'll still likely want Clayton over him.
Do your waiver rules allow you to make as many moves as you want before the #2 priority guy's claims get processed? If so, I'd make this move to get both Clayton and Jackson. Otherwise, I don't think Clayton alone is worth this risk. You can put the claim in for both guys anyway and hope for the best. Will you really start Clayton ahead of T.O.? I don't think I would.
