QB troubles - Kolb, Stafford, Vick, WHIR!

Postby joegoody41 » Tue Sep 14, 2010 9:41 am

So like many others, I have Kolb and Stafford, who are both injured for now. I went ahead and picked up Vick as a handcuff for now, in case Kolb is out longer or if he somehow eventually loses his starting job. My question now is more about Stafford. Is he worth waiving right now, in order to pick up a healthy (for now, more reliable) backup? Here is what is available:

Garrard
Orton
D. Anderson
Campbell
Hass
Freeman
Bradord

I like a couple of those guys because they have pretty good matchups this coming week (Campbell, Orton), and I think both Garrard and Orton could be decent backups.

So, should I stand pat with Kolb/Vick and Stafford as the backup? Or take a flyer on one of the WW QBs?

Thanks in advance. Leave a link.

Time to waive Stafford. I'm in the same boat with you as far as Kolb/Vick go. Orton should be your man, I see economical-Matt Hasselbeck type performances week after week. Maybe even Anderson...

Help?

Stafford is gonna be out for quite a while, so he is safe to drop as long as you're in a redraft league. I would look at Orton and probably Garrard. Help with mine?

If you have noone else to drop, then you may need to drop Stafford for Orton or Garrard since Kolb was a shaky option at QB1 before week 1 IMO.

Thanks for all the responses so far. Sounds like I should drop Stafford for either Orton or Garrard.

I should also point out that I have both MJD and Moreno, and like the idea of having a QB as insurance for red zone opportunities when the RB doesn't get the ball. For example, last week when Garrard threw 3 TDs, and MJD didn't get any scores.

I picked up Orton ASAP after the game on Sunday. They are a pass first offense and he has some under-rated "no-name" weapons. I'm not convinced Garrad will be as good all year and Vick is still up in the air.

Orton seems to be the consensus pick and I can speak from experience! hahaha

Drop Stafford, get ORton or/then Anderson

Kolb will be fine, he will absolutely positively 100% not lose his starting job to Michael Vick.
Vick will obviously start until Kolb is cleared medically, but as soon as he is Kolb will be back in there.
And don't let 2 bad quarters against one of the leagues better defenses be your barometer of what Kolb will do this year.

I'd drop Stafford for Garrard personally, guy isn't flashy but he puts up pretty decent FF numbers on a pretty consistent basis.

Keep a close eye on Stafford's injury status before you dump him. That being said, I think Anderson, Orton, and Bradford could all be good options. Anderson might surprise people in Arizona, if he can keep the INT's down. Bradford may also be a pleasant surprise. 50+ throws in Week 1...they obviously are going to let him air it out. Thanks for helping on mine!
