How much do I bid for Brandon Jackson?

Postby flock of seagulls » Tue Sep 14, 2010 1:34 pm

Help Please!!! Im new to the auction/bid on waiver process. Brandon Jackson is available and my question is how much should I bid on him. IMO he could be the pick up of the year due to the explosiveness of the Green Bay offense. The budget is $100 for the year and I am very week at the flex position. Let me know what you guys think.

being that its week 1, I would only go with a max of $10. Thats 10 percent of your limit. Think of how many moves you will need to make throughout the year. There are too many unknowns this early in the season. I cant imagine you are that bad. Every year there are players who come out of no where to produce. You could already have them sitting on y our bench

This is a high risk, high reward ordeal. You're picking up the someone that's going to be the starting RB for the season on a prolific offence.

Regardless of talent level, he's likely to put up flex position worthy points consistantly. And coach has already said he considers him an every down back... and this was before the injury.

This is a golden egg move if you can get him at the right price. I'd plan to shell out $60-$70 on him.

Otherwise you can hold out for one of the few other players that tend to surface throughout a season and pray you don't get outbid.

Personally I'd go for it but I wouldn't do more than $70 at the absolute max.

could really use some help with this one... http://www.fantasyfootballcafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=473643

Here is my roster:
QB Tom Brady
Rb Frank Gore
Rb Pierre Thomas
Wr Randy Moss
Wr Donald Driver/Derrik Mason
TE Todd Heap
Flex Justin Forsett
K Rackers
D Ny Giants

I feel I am pretty solid at my qb, 2 rbs and wr ( an upgrade over Driver would be nice but I can live with him), but I am not a big fan of Forsett. I was planning on bidding 50-60 on Brandon Jackson and if he produced in the ballpark of Ryan Grant it would make my highly competetive.

12 team auction with $100 salary cap I had Ryan Grant valued at $11 and ended up selling for $14. I would still give B Jackson the $11 courtesy bid because he is in Green Bay but not a dollar more.

How many teams and how competitive is your league?

If it's at all competitive you won't get him for under half your budget... That's just ridiculous to think any league would let him go for less than that. I'm super bearish on him, but if he went undrafted in my 14 team league (He was a 13th round pick) I would easily go between $80-$100 on him. What do you expect to hit the Waiver Wire this year? How often does an unquestioned #1 workhorse, with only ONE, UNOWNED backup RB on the roster get injured and you have a chance to get him. Spend the money and don't feel bad. Bid at least $65 and go more if you really need him.

The $10 answers are how much to bid if you don't want him.

This is a clear opportunity to grab a clear RB1/RB2 type guy. To give you some idea - we do $1000 for bidding in my league and right now my planned bid is in the $700-$800 range. I will have plenty of money left to make other transactions during the year when other owners start losing interest and forgetting to make weekly bids.
