Drop Shonn Greene ? WHIR

Postby Thor » Thu Sep 16, 2010 8:09 am

I know it sounds crazy, but it looks like he will be no better than a low end #2 RB/high end #3 with the unexpected 50/50 share with LT2.

We can only carry 4 RBs on our roster and I am actually thinking of dumping Greene to try to get Brandon Jackson. At least he will be a full time player, but I hate to drop my 4th round pick already. Unfortunately it looks like a bust.

thanks for the help with mine

he's on a team that runs the ball a s*** load more than any other team, and they we're playing the ravens, i wouldn't drop him over best or bradshaw.....bradshaw did absolutly nothing against the giants, i watched that game....and best had like ten total yards all game, and now he's stuck with noodle arm for a qb....greene played the tuffer defense of those 3 rbs, and he's on a team that will run it alot more....if your worried only about the time share, bradshaw is in the same predicament with jacobs, but greene is the better talent.

with s. hill at qb, best will have much less opurtunitys to score than sanchez and the jets, plus jets have the defense to set greene up with some short fields and quicker scoring oppurtunitys.

i'd drop best for brandon jackson if i had to make this desision.

its too early to drop Greene after 1 bad game. They run the ball more than anybody and have a pretty good OLine.LT wont last all season if he becomes the lead rb and they know it. Ravens are a very good run defense and were amped up for the game. Id definitely add Brandon jackson, but id drop Best (they wont score much) or Bradshaw(jacobs will still get alot of the fall down from the 1 TDs).

I disagree. Not with the part about keeping Greene (you should), but the part about dropping Best. I don't believe the Packers will ride one RB the whole season, and Kuhn will take some goal line work away from Jackson. Best did well with his goal line carries, even if he didn't have much yardage wise. That won't happen much, he's a very good back that is going to be relied on more and more. Not to mention that with Hill at QB, Best will see more dumpoffs and screens, since he can't get the ball deep downfield. I'd stay put. Good luck!

I really think that LT will overtake Greene in the depth chart. Really, Brandon Jackson is a true sleeper and he has something to proove in the High-powerer GB offense. Forget Kuhn...

Thanks for your help..
I won it all in one league and 2nd in the other in 07.. Football, not Futbol.

I think it's WAY too early to abandon hope on Greene - yeah he had a bad game, so did Andre Johnson, would you drop him for M. Clayton or L. Naanee or A. Collie - I think not.

B. Jackson was basically given the jig in GB back in 07 when he was a 3rd (maybe 4th) pick - the Pack was so unimpressed by him the traded for undrafted FA Grant. Sure, Jackson could have a good year - but he's a total unknown, it's pure specualtion, and I'd be relatively shocked if the Packers don't bring in another guy - cough*Marshawn*cough*Lynch...

NYJ is gonna run the ball 500+ times this year, even in a time share @ a 50/50 split - Greene is getting 250+ carries - and if you recall, Greene was an absolute monster in the playoffs last year.

I'd stand pat.
