Waiver Wire: Drop Kolb to pick up Big Ben?

Postby ezenbrowntown » Thu Sep 16, 2010 10:53 am

I have Matt Schuab as my starter, so I'm basically just looking for bye week or bad matchup plays. It looks like Kolb, if back and doing well, would play Tennesee in week 7 and Big Ben plays Miami. Thoughts?

Or would you pick up someone like Kyle Orton? Leave well enough alone?

i say go for it. unless you can snag B Jax on the waiver wire Big Ben should be rostered in any league. looking at week 7 specifically ben will likely be a better start than kolb having had the week 5 bye to practice with his receivers and week 6 against the brownies to fine tune things. Ben will be back, healthy, and sharp by week 7 and after your bye week you have two top 8 QBs that may be an intriguing bargaining chip in a trade
PPR, Start: QB, 2RB, 2WR, RB/WR, TE, K, TM
QB: Orton
RB: S Jax, Addai, Wells, Blount, R. Bush, T. Jones
WR: A. Johnson, R. Moss, M. Wallace, Smith (Car), Britt, A Gonzalez
TE: Gates
K: Vinateri
TM: Jets

Pick up Big Ben. In a full season, he'd put up over 4,000 yards, and I don't think Kolb or Orton will this year. If you have Schaub, you can stand waiting the 4 weeks for Ben to come back, and he'll be a way better option than Kolb or Orton once he's back in the lineup.
