ESPN's Ed Werder reports that Andre Johnson (ankle) will be active and start for the Texans today.
Our View: He may not be at quite 100 percent health, but he wasn't at full health last week, either, and still had an excellent game. The stud wideout remains an absolute must-start for all fantasy owners.
According to the Texans' website, Andre Johnson has a high ankle sprain.
The team also acknowledges that Johnson aggravated the injury against the Cowboys, although team doctors apparently don't believe it's any worse for wear. "We’re going to do the same thing we did last week as far as treatment and see what happens," Johnson said of his outlook for Week 4. "It’s been bothering me since I injured it, but I’m able to play with it. If I wasn’t able to play with it, I wouldn’t be out on the field. I felt comfortable enough to go out and play with it." From Rotoworld: "Andre Johnson (ankle) missed his third straight day of practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 4. Johnson did do some running on the side, but players that don't do any practicing throughout the week like A.J. rarely are active on game days."
Andre Johnson is undergoing platelet-rich plasma therapy on his high ankle sprain in an effort to play in Week 4 against the Raiders.
The procedure takes blood platelets (healing mechanisms) from one part of a patient's body and injects them into the injured area in order to expedite faster healing. Its efficacy is unpredictable, but PRP did allow Troy Polamalu and Hines Ward to play in Super Bowl XL. It didn't go as well for Giants DT Chris Canty last year. The approach does confirm that Johnson is trying to play, though we remain skeptical that he'll be active, let alone effective. Source: AOL NFL Fanhouse
