Thinking about plying Cutler for RB

Postby Hank8th » Mon Sep 20, 2010 12:22 am

12 team league, not PPR. 10yds = 1 point. Here's my roster.

QB: Matt Schaub
WR: Roddy White
WR: Santana Moss
RB: Rashard Mendenhall
RB: Knowshon Moreno
TE: Jason Witten
Flex: Clinton Portis
K: Nate Kaeding
DEF: Philadelphia

BN: Jay Cutler
BN: Michael Bush
BN: Devin Hester
BN: Demaryius Thomas
BN: Larry Johnson
BN: Nate Washington

This is my second year playing FF, and I really don't follow NFL too much. However, I'm pretty competitive and hate to lose. :) I realize that Schaub has a history of being injury prone, but I'm confident I can pick up a decent backup if needed. Cutler's been putting up good numbers (admittedly, it is only the second week) and it's killing me having him on the bench when he could potentially be a good value for a decent-level RB. We're not a PPR league, and WR's don't seem to be as consistent, so I'd prefer to trade for a RB. A few teams in my league are hurting for a decent QB, so I'm thinking I could work something out with one of them. Those teams have the following RB's for potential trades (remember, these would all be for Cutler):

Ray Rice
DeAngelo Williams
LT
Arian Foster
Frank Gore
Ahmad Bradshaw
Tim Hightower (already have an offer to trade Cutler for him)
Ronnie Brown
Ryan Mathews
Adrian Peterson

Now, I don't expect to get someone like AP or Ray Rice for Cutler. I'm just wondering what level RB I can expect for a straight up, one-for-one trade if I'm offering Cutler. Suggestions from the above list are helpful, but I'm curious to see any other RB's I could reasonably expect to get for a top 8 QB. Oh, and any other feedback anyone wants to give me on my roster would be welcome. Thanks!

You culd easily get Hightower for him if the guy needs a QB. This is a good time to get rid of him since he did very well yesterday. With a little more you could get rice I bet

I would throw out an offer for a Rice right now, he hasn't done much in the first two weeks and it may be a buy low situation for you. But it all depends on what the Rice owner thinks of Cutler and how desperate they are for a qb. I think a R. Brown type rb could be someone to target also. Good luck.
