Who is the better Backup QB? Bradford or Stafford-WHIR

Postby FantasyStudMuffin » Thu Sep 23, 2010 9:19 am

Hey Guys,

Love the Forums...keep it up.

Got a question. Who would you rather have on your roster as a back-up QB? Matthew Stafford or Sam Bradford?

It is a Standard 12-team Non-keeper league (6pt for Passing TD) and my current starter is Jay Cutler. QB's are really thin right now and I am wondering if I should drop Stafford and roll the dice with Bradford. Because QB is so thin I am thinking that Stafford will get picked up regardless if he is hurt or not.

Let me know what you think and leave a link and I will help with your question as well.

Thanks,

I think stafford is better back-up.

If Stafford weren't hurt, it would be him by virtue of the extra year of experience. But yeah, roll the dice and add Bradford to backup Cutler. It's a non keepers league, you've got nothing to lose with a backup QB move as such. It's only week 3 right now too, there's bound to be someone dropped at some point in the next few weeks in your league. In the meantime, Bradford is throwing well and has some better WR targets emerging this season. Of course, if you're okay waiting for Stafford to return and don't have a CHI bye (when is it?) or injury to Cutler to deal with, then I suppose I agree that Stafford is the better backup between the two.

Bradford is a wild card. It's so tough to say. Stafford is guaranteed to throw a ton of picks, but could also throw a ton of TD's, especially with Jahvid Best as a nice checkdown option. Plus, Calvin JOhnson is better than anyone the Rams have on their squad.

Take Stafford if his health doesn't concern you. For the record though, I'd take Alex Smith and Mark Sanchez over those guys. And don't sleep on Bruce Gradkowski.
