So is John Carney now the guy for the Saints?

Not this again. At least I only have Hartley in one league this year.

Stories aren't clear on who will kick Sunday. Saints signed Carney so we will have to watch the news, probably up to game time. I may grab another kicker so I don't have to worry about who gets picked each week. That's too much aggravation for a kicker.

Supposedly Carney is only coming in to be a consultant/mentor to Hartley.

I avoided him like the plague during my draft. He was in the bottom 50% of NFL kickers last year in accuracy (82% T-18th) and his long FG during the regular season was only 32 yards. He was also 10/11 on XP's with ZERO blocked so that means the one was missed. I don't recall that miss, but I'd guess it was wide left. The guy has a problem with pulling kicks to the left. I've seen too many XP's barely stay inside the left upright with him. He's a liability and the Saints know it.

If you have Carney or Hartley, check who's kicking Sunday morning.

I don't trust Adam Schefter honestly but.... I dropped Hartley for J. Reed. I'm not taking any chances!

Quite a few sources have it as Carney starting Sunday. Regardless, bottom line is - it's a kicker!!!. You season isn't going to be make or break over who is kicking for you. Probably not your weekly matchups either. Drop Hartley if you've got him and grab someone from waivers. Don't think twice.

Most of the time I would agree with you as far as the worthlessness of a kicker however I'm in an auction league so it's not like I can just go out and get whoever (I can but I don't want to pay the $5 free agency cost for a stupid kicker). Also, my league's scoring is incremental and I lost last week by 7 yards, had Hartley made that OT FG or not taken it at all I would have won :~(
