Rotoworld - Pierre Thomas missed Saints practice Wednesday with an ankle injury.
Coach Sean Payton said Wednesday that the Saints have considered re-signing DeShawn Wynn, but will wait to "see how Pierre progresses." Thomas was able to return in overtime after tweaking the ankle late in the fourth quarter of last Sunday's loss to the Falcons. New Orleans hosts Carolina in Week 4. Thomas owners should be quick to pick up Chris Ivory.
I have Mike Tolbert. Is Chris Ivory worth more as a stash/possible bye-week fill-in?
12 Team $ (PPR + Return Yardage):
QB: Tom Brady, Andy Dalton RB: Charles, Lynch, Martin, Stewart, DeAngelo Williams, Rashad jennings, Joe McKnight, Leon Washington WR/TE: Antonio Brown, Brandon Lloyd, Randall Cobb, Ted Ginn K: Bryant DST: Bills
The Saints rank 32nd in the NFL in rushing yardage through week three. If you consider the fact that there are only 32 teams, well.... Personally, I do not feel that Chris Ivory is going to remedy that situation. If you are desperate or in a very deep league (16 or more teams with large rosters), then by all means, grab him. If you own Thomas and you're paranoid that the injury could be serious, then you may want to stash him if you have a droppable player on your bench. Otherwise, I'd steer clear.
Edit - One thing I forgot to bring up. Wednesday is typically the day that NFL teams rest players with minor injuries. If he does not practice on Thursday, then I'd get worried if you're a PT owner. That's usually a bad sign. If he practices at all tomorrow, even lightly, then he'll be a go for Sunday.
"Update: CBSsports.com is reporting that New Orleans Saints RB Pierre Thomas missed practice again Thursday after injuring his ankle last week. The severity of the injury is unclear, but he is considered day-to-day."
It would be a surprise if Pierre Thomas (ankle) is active, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. All signs are pointing toward Thomas taking the week off. Ladell Betts is expected to start and rotate with Chris Ivory, but look for the Saints to go even more pass-heavy than usual. Ivory will be the goal-line back. With that said, whos the better start? Betts or Ivory... Betts is being labeled the starting back but supposedly ivory is gonna get the GL carries and might even get 1st n 2nd down, while Betts is in on 3rd downs and passing downs... Im in a tough spot in one league with crappy RBs so im putting Ivory in my RB slot and Betts in my Flex... hard times already in that league! haha
Rotoworld wrote:Pierre Thomas (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 5 at Arizona. Chris Ivory is expected to start, but Ladell Betts received more touches and played more snaps in Week 4. The Cardinals have the worst run defense in the NFC, so Ivory and Betts are both worth looks as flex plays. Ivory is the better bet for a touchdown. Thomas was at least able to practice on a "limited" basis late last week, so we're concerned he's aggravated the injury. Consider him highly questionable to return in time for Week 6. Saints coach Sean Payton insisted Friday that Pierre Thomas (ankle, out) doesn't have a high ankle sprain.
"It's not a high ankle sprain." said Payton. "The only thing I commented on was that it wasn't that. It was more of a typical sprain. It's looking a lot better. He's feeling a lot better. He's doing some light jogging, all those things. I think he's going to have a good shot at playing next week."
