I own Frank Gore, but despite his injury history I'm considering dropping his backup for another guy that looks to get immediate playing time: The Saints' Chris Ivory or The Redskins' Ryan Torain.
I also own Mike Tolbert, and he was an OK fill-in for me last week, as I have Moreno out. Is it worth dropping Tolbert (Mathews seems to be on track to come back) or Dixon (maybe Gore stays healthy) for Ivory or Torain? Pierre Thomas is nursing an ankle injury and Clinton Portis sucks.
As always, WHIR. Thanks!

I would say hold out a little longer to see if Mathews is going to make it back. I don't see the two guys your looking at being picked up anytime soon so I would hold out just a little longer if you plan on using them this week. Yeah tolbert was a disappointment for me also but he did do something for me.
Id say to stand pat as well, tolbert will still get half the carries bc they wont want to work mathews to hard with him just getting back from injury, ivory and torain who do anything unless PT and Portis gets hurt, besides that the redskins may sign Larry Johnson who would easily start over Torain. If you wanted to you could drop gores backup since i dont believe gore will get hurt anytime soon for one of the players that your talking about.

Uhm, the Redskins already kicked Larry Johnson to the curb... Thanks anyways.

I'm also a Gore owner, and I'd rather have Torain than Dixon. Portis is getting up there and has lost a step. He is an injury risk himself. You could go ahead and make the switch, and if it doesn't look like Torain is getting enough carries, you could just switch back. I don't think anyone else would pick up Dixon now. I think he has had one carry through 3 games. (of course it had to be for a TD... hopefully that won't become a trend)
Thanks for the help with mine. I would hold onto Tolbert just in case mathews isnt active for this week. However, I would drop Dixon for Torain as he is clearly the backup in Washington and there is a lot better chance of Portis missing time than Gore.
I'm still not sold, despite the suggestions to drop Dixon for Torain. Gore NEVER plays a full season, and as my RB1, I would be screwed without him.

I don't know that I have much to add here. Every player we're talking about is a backup that won't be relevant unless and until an injury to a starter gives them playing time. So I guess it comes down to likelihood of injury?
In that case I'd rank them: 1. Tolbert (Mathews already nursing an injury) 2. Torain (Portis an injury waiting to happen) 3. Ivory (Also nursing an injury but a small enough one that he returned same game) 4. Dixon (Gore's healthiest of the starters in question)
