QB quandry - Orton or Schaub?

Postby Red Winger » Wed Sep 29, 2010 8:27 pm

QBs get 6pts/TD in our league. 2pts/20 pass yards. -2 for turnovers.

Both QBs are going against tough defenses.
Schaub @ OAK -Andre Johnson is looking like he will be out, which means Asomugha will be on Walter, and all that's left is Jacoby Jones.
Orton @ TEN - has been on fire, averaging 4points more than Schaub. Not great in the red zone though.

Thoughts?

WHIR if a leave a link! ;-D

Yuck. If Johnson doesn't play you can't start Schuab IMO, which is going to really hurt me in one of my leagues. The Raiders are terrible against the run and they may just run it 50 times even if AJ plays. If you need an answer today I guess it's Orton.

Sorry, but your decision completely hinges upon whether or not AJ suits up for battle this sunday @ OAK, it's as simple as that. Orton's inflated numbers last week are first and foremost, an ABERRATION, ie a statistical "outlier", and nobody should expect another game approaching that kind of yardage/production for the rest of the season imo, least of all his owners; we also likely saw Brandon Lloyd's best game of the season, as he has NEVER been a consistent option in the fantasy realm.

I would probably start Schaub regardless, but not having Johnson in his lineup would definitely put a dent in his production, there's just no getting around this fact. IF --- if former standout TE Owen Daniels picks it up just a bit, and can find some room underneath OR on the sidelines, on some shorter "out" routes, then Schaub will be in much better shape, but right now I cannot even rely on Daniels as an O.Daniels owner myself... Go with Schaub for now, and rejoice if AJ is a "go" on sunday afternoon... GL!
