I want to trade out of J Knox ... but for who?

Postby sodadrinker » Thu Sep 30, 2010 12:42 am

Im looking for a Strong Consistent RB/WR Contributor ... doesn't have to be a top 5 guy

I currently have
QB - P Rivers, J Freeman
RB - R Mendenhall, M Turner, B Jackson, J Snelling, BJ Green-Ellis
WR - M Wallace, A Boldin, J Knox, M Floyd, M Clayton
TE - K Winslow, Z Miller
D - Steelers

Not A PPR league, this is my first year and I never have done a trade before.. Looking to avoid giving away my already strong contributors in Rivers, Mendenhall, Turner, Wallace (future worth), or Boldin...

Do I have any value with knox and/or my other left overs to do a straight up deal or a 2 for 1 deal for a more consistent contributor and if so who should I target??

Sorry if this is a Dumb/Noob question

Not a dumb question, but it would help to know how many start at each position. How many RB's/WR's/or W/R positions are there?

If it's standard, it probably looks like this:
QB
RB
RB
WR
WR
W/R
TE

But I've also seen crazy stuff like this:

QB
QB
RB
RB
WR
WR
WR
W/R
W/T
TE

What are we working with here?

I'd do a 2 for 1 and package Knox and B. Jackson. Try to upgrade your 3rd RB.

It would have been easier to do this right away before Jackson actually played as a starter, but you may still be able to get something for him. I personally do not feel he's a very good RB. He was a backup for a reason.

Aim high but don't get greedy. You'll never get AP or Chris Johnson with that offer. Try for someone like Ronnie Brown or Cedric Benson. Again, this would have been easier to do two weeks ago. Brown would probably be the easier of the two right now. His fantasy numbers are down, but he's also had some seriously tough matchups thus far. He'll shine later in the year.

You mentioned Wallace has "future worth". Does that mean this is a keeper league? If it is, then you would have a hard time trying for any of the younger backs as they are usually difficult to trade for in keeper leagues. If this is not a keeper league, then you may want to try for Ryan Matthews. He's a bit nicked up, but I feel in the end he will have a pretty good season and should outperform Jackson by quite a bit in the long run.

Snelling you want to keep as a handcuff to Turner and Green-Ellis doesn't have much trade value in NE's system. Jackson is the guy you want to move.

I agree with 204BC. I would try a package with Knox, you won't get much value for him alone and I think he will have a better value down the line he hasn't peaked yet IMO..

Any help with mine? viewtopic.php?t=477588&view=viewpoll
