Trade Help? WHIR!

There's two trades (with two different owners) I might be able to pull off. I'm looking to beef up my running backs, and just wanted to get some opinions on which, if any, I should pursue. My roster is in my signature, it's an 8-team, 0.5 PPR league with otherwise standard scoring.

First trade: Wes Welker / Clinton Portis for Mendenhall / Sims-Walker

Second Trade: Ray Rice / DeSean Jackson for Adrian Peterson (or possibly J. Charles / D-Jax for Peterson)

I like the first trade because Mendenhall slotting into your flex will be a bigger contributor than Welker. Portis doesn't have too much value in an 8 team league and SimsWalker could end up paying off if he can just start being a bit consistent. The second trade I would only pursue if its the JCharles version, DJax should be a beast and I think its a bit early to give up on Ray Rice, he's had a pretty brutal rush D schedule and should start rolling when healthy.
