Foster for Rodgers? WHIR

Postby BearsFan65 » Fri Oct 01, 2010 4:09 pm

12 team PPR league, all TD's = 6 pts. 40 pass yds / 15 rec yds / 10 rush yds = 1pt. My roster:

QB - E Manning
RB - A Peterson, A Foster, R Mathews, M Tolbert
WR - R White, M Floyd, D Bowe, D Thomas (DEN), S Holmes
TE - A Hernandez

Another owner has approached me about my interest in a trade involving Rodgers. His roster:

QB - A Rodgers, M Ryan
RB - J Charles, C Spiller, BJGE, B Jackson
WR - C Johnson, W Welker, D Bryant, L Murphy
TE - D Keller

His initial feeler was Foster/White for Rodgers/Welker. I don't want any part of that, I think I lose on it big time.

Personally, I think he's panicking a little. He's ok at WR imo once Stafford gets back, what he really needs is a RB. I'm very reluctant to break up AP and Foster, I think I have 2 of the top 5 RB's if not better than that. But with TD passes = 6, Rodgers would be a big upgrade from Eli.

What combination works to get Rodgers in this deal? He wants a RB/WR package.

I could also keep it simple, and just offer Mathews for Welker. EDIT: Mathews + Bowe for Welker + Spiller? If not Bowe, which WR? Takes away my solid fill-in when Foster has his bye, but would allow me to start White, Floyd, Welker on a weekly basis with AP and Foster. Thoughts? WHIR, thanks!

This is funny because after the first week of the season I traded my Eli Manning, Foster, and Forte for A. Rodgers and Turner.

I would offer Eli, Foster, and Floyd for his Rodgers (best fantasy qb), CJ Spiller, and Megatron...(both CJ and Megatron will beast very soon)

Go for the Foster for Rodgers only trade. See what happens.

Foster and AP is SICK though. You could pick up QB's out of the player pool and flip flop each week.

Who is in the player pool? Orton?

I agree with this. If I were in your situation, there would be no way I would let anybody touch AP or Foster. I would just sit back, relax, and cruise to the championship. If anything I would try to deal a bench WR for a backup QB, maybe Ryan, Orton, or somebody you could play the matchups game with Eli

I wish. No Orton, and not much else. Lots of teams carrying 2 QB's, something I don't believe in with only 4 bench spaces. Available are Henne, Hasselbeck, Gradkowski, Freeman, that sort of thing. Funny thing is, I didn't like Eli's matchup with Carolina in week 1 so I grabbed Orton for a spot start. Eli throws 3 TD's to Nicks, I drop Orton, and Eli has been struggling ever since.

Yeah I don't like his first initial trade but the one u were thinking about it better. Welker in PPR is killer!! & Rodgers will make up for Foster + some

Yeah Mathews for Welker would be good for you. I wouldn't trade AP or Foster. Your team is fine the way it is.

But if you REALLY insist on getting Rodgers, you'd likely have to give up Foster. Then you'd have to trust Mathews the rest of the way as your RB2. It could work, if he returns healthy.

But again, i think your team is just fine.

Please help with my trade offer:

QBs Schaub, Flacco
RBs Jones-Drew, Westbrook, Washington, Bradshaw, McCoy, Donald Brown
WRs Roddy White, S. Smith (NYG), Eddie Royal
TE Witten
K Carney
DEF rotating

12 team PPR league (1 pt per reception) 5 bench spots 1 flex

You have a pretty interesting roster situation with Matthews and Tolbert. Tolbert has shown he can be a solid RB2 if Matthews is down. And Matthews was a 2nd round pick in most leagues, so it's not unimaginable that he comes back with top 10-15 numbers, which is good enough for an RB2.

I wonder if you could make that ^ pitch to him regarding Matthews/Tolbert, and offer him this:

E.Manning/Matthews/R.Tolbert/D.Bowe

for

Rodgers/BGJE/Murphy or Bryant

You'd have a decent backup RB (BGJE), who'll probably never get you less than 7-8 pts, and will have double-digit days, and you'd get rodgers. You're giving up a lot, but Bowe is a big name but headed for a bad season. Mathews/Tolbert together (whichever isn't injured) is a borderline RB1 most weeks. Bowe might be the least valuable WR on your roster, even though he shouldn't be.

I see where you're going. I'm not sure he'd want to drop a 4th player to accommodate all four of those coming his way. The more I think about it, the more I think I'm not willing to pay the price for Rodgers. AP + Foster is too good to split up, and I like what's happened with Floyd since the monsoon in week 1. I think he gets even better when McNeill provides some protection for Rivers, the deep routes become more of a factor. I think the most I can do for him would be:

Mathews + Bowe for Welker + BJGE or Spiller or BJax

He gets to pair Mathews with Charles, still has CJ, Bryant, Murphy plus Bowe's upside (if it exists). I get to start White, Floyd, Welker to go with my RB's, and I live with average to above average numbers from Eli. This works for me, right?
