Pickup Torain or L.Murphy?

Postby HoratioSanz » Fri Oct 01, 2010 6:08 pm

Really just one roster spot available for me and I have to make a decision quick....unless I drop Mike Wallace, who is more worthy of keeping? Ryan Torain or Murphy?????

THANK YOU

Well its kind of hard to answer without seeing your roster. Torain is still stuck behind Portis so if Portis goes down or gets benched then Torain will be worth a lot. Murphy is off to a great start on a team that constantly plays from behind, and he actually catches the ball.

I would say Murphy scores more fantasy points this year but its hard to tell if you need him or if you would ever even start him.

After this week we'll see a lot from each guy.

Portis looks runs like his helmet is made of platinum, leaning forward and about to fall down as soon as he crosses the goal line. It's like how Cedric Benson ran in his final year with the Bears, he was lucky to gain more than 3 YPC. Torian will likely be the benificiary of Portis's awful play, but don't forget about Keiland, there is still a chance that the two of them will be battling.

Murphy has been great thus far, he even vindicated me last week when i started him over SmithNYG. But, as great as he looked, DHB is rising as another valid target in Oakland. Of course another option of the field won't hurt Murphy's value, but there is a chance that DHB may look more valuable on Monday morning.

In the end, it depends on your team needs, league scoring, and side of the bed you sleep on.

Sorry here is my team:

QB: A.Rodgers, Brees
WR: M.Colston, S. Moss M.Clayton, L.Murphy, M.Wallace
RB: P. Thomas, A.Bradshaw, D.McFadden B.Jackson
TE: J.Finley
DEF: PIT

I think at this point I am going to watch the first 10 plays and see how many carries Torain gets and pick him up right away. The only problem is that I can not drop Marques Colston (who I think is the worst receiver on my team FWIW). I would have to drop Wallace and pick him up with the #1 waiver pick that I have. Is this a dumb strategy?

Did you draft QBs with your first 2 draft picks? How does someone wind up with A.Rodgers and Brees?

Yea, I have the 10th pick in a 10 man draft so I took them both. Brees has sat on my bench every week.
