Injuries Hurt People. WHIR

Postby bluecheezit » Tue Oct 05, 2010 6:16 pm

Recently, I had asked how to improve my team, so it may look familiar. Well, I was finalizing some trades, and low 'n behold, my team basically broke. Trades are much more difficult now. In the down time, what should I be looking to do? My team is in my sig. Vick is out anywhere from 1-3 weeks plus a bye after that. Smith hurt his ankle. Addai is still questionable. Forte has dropped off the map and I am NOT ppr. Shiancoe is also still questionable even after the bye week. Next week sees Moss in a bye, as well as Hernandez. Most of my other players are suffer by association at this point. So again, what am I looking to improve first with WW, and what can I use to trade (my league is not trade heavy, either)? Thank you very much in advance.

I would start looking on the WW for a RB, if Torain is available grab him and run.

Torain is not avaiable.

Torain is available, but I had a good start at 3-0, lost last week horribly, so 3-1. That means the I have 8th priority and I already know a friend ahead of me is taking Torain.

Don't freak out. sit tight and let your team heal. stalk the ww for a rb in the rough or even a wr. be patient, so many owner really freak out this time of year and do stupid trades and drops. even if you take 2 losses in the next few weeks it wont kill you.

I apologize and should reiterate. I am not looking to dump players, I'm looking for what to do to make it through the next few weeks with the greatest chance of winning. Example, I bring up possibly trading Orton. I believe Vick is a better start than Orton and am willing to wait on him, and I could maybe pull a better WR out of Orton and then play QB match ups. There are several QBs on the WW that I can use while Vick recovers. Also, I'm not freaking out in full, as I'm asking early in the week to get the most possible information before making any moves (and I'm move happy in general).

There are much more "broke-er" teams out there :-)

I don't see much dead weight on your squad. I don't like carrying 2 defenses, especially in a 10-team league. There should be tons on the FA list, and there should always be good matchups to pick from them. 2 TEs is a luxury I also don't like to do, but you have injury issues there. I think you stick with Vick and Orton. You hold onto Vick, because his upside when healthy is enormous. And Orton is playing at an extremely high level. I don't know what FA QBs there are. But it's hard to imagine any of them not being a big drop-off from Orton.

Besides that, I don't know what I can tell you. Without seeing the FAs available, I can't say if you should drop anyone. And if the league doesn't like to trade - well, you're kind of stuck there then. To do trading I look for a couple of things - a need with a specific positional need, and a positional strength that I can afford to trade away. I'm not what I could recommend you trading. Vick was a great trade chip a week ago. Now I think you have to stay put there. Forte was a great trade chip a couple of weeks ago. After that prime time debacle, it would be hard to get value for him now. You have 3 big name WRs with disappointing outputs. At this point in the season, I find other owners trying to lowball me on guys like that.

Positional restrictions. 1-2 QBs, 3-4 RBs, 3-5WRs, 1-2 TEs, 1-2 Ks, 1-2 Defs. There is a nice list on the WW, but I have to drop to gain.
