Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports the Vikings are "very close" to acquiring Randy Moss from the Patriots.
How's that for a shocker? Per CSN New England's Tom Curran, the Pats' compensation is "rumored" to be a third-rounder. The deal can't be finalized until the Vikings work out a new contract for Moss, which Glazer says the sides are currently addressing. Brett Favre has long pined for deep threat Moss as a teammate. Moss is at the beginning of the star WR "I'm not happy" cycle. New England is a "team" that does not care for individual personalities complaining [as evidenced by 0 catches for Moss this week]. Minnesota is desperate for a top WR. A trade makes sense.

Its what makes the Pats a good franchise IMO. Most teams would have given Moss a huge deal for another 3 years or whatever and been paying two years of bad money. Not the Pats, they know when to cut their ties and move on. I do feel like it is going to hurt them more than they possibly think though. Especially Welker. Hes going to get the top dog every week now.

You all might want to be on Vincent Jackson watch again. Don't be surprised if the Pats move that third rounder they just received (possibly along with another pick) to the Chargers for him now. The Pats have two picks in each of the first four rounds of the 2011 NFl draft.

So glad I didn't take a Welker offer yesterday, he will be blanketed and opposing D's will force other guys to step up. Don't get me wrong he will catch his share but the field just got a lot shorter minus Moss.

I also scooped up Favre as my backup as I feel his stock just got a shot in the arm. He went off last year with a poor man's Moss (Sidney Rice), now he has the real deal.

I think this trade also helps the value of Peterson, as teams won't be so quick to stack the box with Moss out there. It'll get even better once Rice is back.

On the NE side of things, I think Green-Ellis, Hernandez, and Tate all get a boost, as well. I don't think NE will rely on the pass quite as much which is why Green-Ellis will do better, but as stated earlier, Welker will now be blanketed which will cause Hernandez and Tate to get more targets.
