Should I drop Sidney Rice? WHIR

Postby hangloos » Thu Oct 07, 2010 6:55 am

Should I hold on to Sidney Rice or drop him for someone like B. Jackson (GB), Spiller (BUF) or J. Forsett (SEA)? If so who?

Will help with yours!

Definitely not Portis. Last I read his groin will have him out for a long time and Washington is trying to phase in younger blood and Torain is taking the job. I like Spiller, but Fred Jackson will get the bulk of the carries. Forsett will be splitting with Lynch and if Lynch does well will be another backup. Really it's a toss up. I just would avoid Portis.

Honestly I see no reason to hold on to Rice. The problem is that I'm not in love with any of the options you mentioned. Forset, Bjax, or Spiller. OUt of those three I'd probably go Spiller as a late season flier. Short term I don't think any of hte three have great value, but there is a reasonable chance that once the Bills are officially eliminated they might give Spiller a run as the lead back.

I don't like the options in return for dropping Rice. I think dropping him is okay just need a better pick up... if there are any.

I wouldn't waste a roster spot on Rice any more, but there isn't a great pickup in exchange. Spiller is your best option, but a weak one at that.

Don't like any of your options, really. With Moss joining I think Rice could be a good play for the latter half of the season. I think you hold on to Rice unless a better waiver wire option options up.

Would Rice be a viable play even after Moss joins? Wouldn't Harvin do the Welker thing and Moss supplant Rice?

I think that's exactly what happens. Sidney Rice not only gets replaced by Moss, but the guy is still on crutches at this point. I would much rather have a CJ Spiller on my bench than Rice. Stash CJ and see what happens in Buffalo now that Lynch is gone.
