Don't know what to do: Bye week defense

Postby grouper » Thu Oct 07, 2010 12:26 pm

So, my first season of fantasy football is going Ok, but I'm up against my first real problem. My defense has a bye this week (Steelers), and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. I figure I could go out and pick up a replacement D for the week (i was thinking Rams), but I don't know who I should drop to do so, I don't particularly want other members to pick up anyone that I would drop. Here is who I have:\

Starting this week:
Mark Sanchez
Ray Rice
DeAngelo Williams
Roddy White
Kenny Britt
Terell Owens
Zach Miller
David Akers

Bench:
Steve Smith
Chad Ochocinco
Kyle Orton
Kevin Walter
Thomas Jones
Ronnie Brown

If anyone could advise me about what I should do, I would appreciate it. Also, comments about my starting choices are welcome as well.

I new as well this season. :)

What defenses are available?

Out of your lineup I would probably drop Kenny Britt. He doesn't seem like an impact fantasy player. You have plenty of depth for your WRs. Depending the defense you choice you can drop that defense after the BYE week.

The top fantasy scoring defenses available are:
Giants
Pats
Rams
Lions
Skins
Bengals
Colts
Browns
Cardinals
Cowboys

I assumed I would drop whatever D i picked up, especially since I doubt any will end up better than Steelers

Thanks for the suggestion, I was leaning toward dropping Smith, Kevin Walter, or Thomas Jones

I changed my post. Kenny Britt should be the one to drop. :)

Well ignore the Pats because they are also on a BYE week. If had to choice for just this week it be the Rams or Lions. Rams first.

Kenny Britt may not have made much of an impact thus far, but he has picked up TD's in each of his last two games and might start on Sunday. I worry that he might end up being a valuable receiver later in the season

Part of the problem is that my WRs, while they may have depth, are pretty unreliable thus far. Steve Smith doesn't have a QB behind him, Kevin Walter can just as easily score none as he can have a big game, and Owens/Ochocinco cannibalize each other. My only steady receiver so far has been Roddy White, and I was sort of hoping that Britt could transform into someone that's reliable for a decent number of points each week

I thinkI would lean towards dropping Britt but if you feel uncomfortable with this do what I'm doing and go w/o a defense this week. I guess I'd rather lose this week than donate a good player to another team.
