What to make of OAK RB situation

Postby Arrowhead Nation » Mon Nov 24, 2003 2:29 pm

Garner avged 4 a carry yesterday but Wheatley had more caries. I wasted a #2 on Garner and am wondering if we can now deem RBBC in Oakland the rest of the way, or will Garner see decent points for a start as a #2 RB?

I've enjoyed the past few weeks, with Wheatly as a nice fill in for me, but I think Garner's going to take over all but 3rd down duties next week. He was out for two, Callahan tested him this past week and he played well enough. Next week, I see the healthy Garner taking the full load.

Callahan's complete lack of understanding of the game of football as a given, I still don't see Garner carrying a full load of anything but his little gatorade cup with his initials etched on the underside next week. He's had his chance this year and has not been the effective running/receiving back of past years. Sure, it's not all his fault. And okay, he did have a few decent receiving games this year. But this is now a different offense than it was with Gannon running the show. Mirer can't be expected to be a quick-read genius like Gannon and, so, Garner and Porter are going to be utilized much differently. I think Wheatley will get plenty of carries from here on out. As will Crocket (in the red zone) and Fargas, if he can go.

I think Crockett is their best RB, but Wheatley seems to be consistently getting the yards and TDs.
